Sunbrite Slimline LED Info & Par Readings

It has been almost close to a month running the S model . I did lower the fixture a few inches (see earlier post ) . I have a mixed tank but mostly sps . I may order some 60 degree optics for more punch .
I am just coming out of the new tank brown out phase . Colors are changing too..
Contributing factors to color shift besides the light would be the TM bio-active salt and Koral color . This salt leaves the water very clear .
A local lfs sells it a 34 gallon box for 25.00 . I hope he can get some more .
Examples ::::
Monti setosa still has it's true color and appears to be healing from the burns it got when it fell in another coral .
My blue prostata is no longer blue but a neon green with brown orange polyps
Orange sherbert was orange but is neon green too. It was shifting to this color before the tank downgrade and switch back to leds .
True test for me is to get another 20 or 30 k lokani and see how the color holds ..

HTH

I have been using the Slim line S led unit now for a least 6 weeks .
I am not getting the color or growth I would like to see with SPS .

Playapixie has the same unit . I am convinced that the light cycle is the issue .

Here is a copy from here answer from SB .
TY Playapixie for asking great questions .

Pressing A sets the timer at 6AM, then:
6am first group blue.
9 am second group blue.
11am first group white.
1 pm second group white. Everything on.
The sunset starts at 5pm, it shuts off the first group of white (5 of them).
Then 7 pm shuts off the second group of white.
9pm shuts off the first group of blue
then it jumps to moon lights mode, only 4 in the middle driven at 0.1 watt each

So in reality there are only 4 hours of full intensity in the cycle .

My options are .

Change the optics to 60 degrees . I have contacted SB and the retailer they came from for the optics . My footprint is 20 x 20 x 10, hoping the 4 hour cycle of full intensity will be enough with the new optics .

Run them full till for at least 6 to 8 hours manually using the remote to shut them down every evening .

I just started the 2nd option today to see how things go.

I know there are some other factors involved but I ruled them out already .

Any thoughts on this SB Slim User's ?

reefdude135 Has anyone heard from Tim at Sunbrite? Nobody in this area has been able to reach him for several weeks.

I have tried too . His voice mail box is full .

I think last i heard of him was when he was in singapore ??

I thought that show was in May .any who maybe he is visiting family and friends .

pnavarro170 last email contact was june 3rd. he was really good about emailing back. now nothin.

+1, now it's like Where is Waldo ? ... LOL

The word:

"Tim is AWOL...

"Sunbrite has brought in someone from another role in the company to replace him and sort everything out. Fixtures will ship shortly and tubes will be in stock within a few weeks"

Found this interesting from the guy up north from about 2 weeks ago:

"The new Sunbrite S arrived today. Things have been in delay mode, as Sunbrite's US rep is AWOL, missing after a trip to China. (Tim, good luck, wherever you are). He was replaced last week, and the new guiy is doing his best to get things caught up.

"I've installed a Sunbrite S -- 18 Cree LEDs -- to the left side of my daughter's tank. A prototype Slimline S is on the right. Both light the heck out of the tank; I've actually had to dim both fixtures a fair amount. Each side of the tank is a perfect 18x18x18 cube.

"The current model (on left) is a bit nicer in color, likely due to the inclusion of the 440 nm royal blue LEDs along with the 470. The prototype, just like the original Slimline, uses just 470 nm blues.

"The prototype is a little lighter physically, and maybe a tad shorter per my visual inspection. Build quality is very good, and the packaging is improved as well.

"The remote is totally new. Instead of the little machined unit, it's now a much larger unit... and now with an antenna as well (retractable). I haven't found a need to extend the antenna yet, as it works quite well.

"So far, very impressive."

I finally got back in touch with SB . I agrre the new guy is working hard but has his work cut out for him . Tim had all the info . My fixture is like the one on the left . Sorry but that remote looks like crap compared to the keyfob . Major foobar imho . Looks like a walkie talkie

I like this way better

I have the s over my solana, i really didnt like the preset timer either. Basically i just plugged in the light to a timer and have it running full for about 6hrs. I play with the atinics in the evenings when i get home. As of now , i love it. Looks sexy!

I have been doing this for a few weeks now and it seems to be the best way to get better colors for my SPS .
