Sunspect LED

What makes these, to me, much better than other black box 2 channel options, is the fact that they put ALL blues and violets on one channel, and the rest on another. I will never understand why more of them don't do this same thing.

Most that I've seen do it like that..
They might leave a few blues on the "white channel" but I've never seen one with more than blue/violet/uv on the blue channel..
But I don't shop around on them much..

The standard black box arrangement is ONLY royal blue on one channel, and the white, red, green, violet, and lighter blue on the second. I've shopped around an unhealthy amount and owned a couple and this one posted here is the first I've seen to pair all blue and violet on the same channel. I'm a big believe in the AB+ program suggested in the coral lab white paper on the ecotech marine radions, but not a big fan of the price on those. Pairing blues and violets together on the black box, and all other colors on the second channel makes it possible to mimic the AB+ program without modding the unit

I'm coming close to the three week mark with my mars aqua's. I could not be happier with these lights! No built in timer, no problem, just using two timers on a power strip.

Kept them at the lowest settings for a week and slowly ramping up since then.
Corals love them : montipora digata's , green slimmer acropora, purple acropora, green blue tipped acropora, montipora caps...... torch and candy canes..... hydnophora.....etc.

All with the best polyp extensions I've ever seen before in this tank and color is excellent.

Best money I've spent on lighting in years. You won't be disappointed if you get them.

Okay just ordered two units from ebay with the built in timer for my 55 gallon mixed reef. About how high should I hang the fixtures?

Is 12" enough?

Just got my lights and very happy with them, only time will tell how they hold up. But very fast shipping and well packed from the ebay seller.

I'm running both channels at 25% right now. How soon can I ramp it up to 100%, my Sps are located mid tank?

What brand did you go with?

I went with the two "SunSpect-2PCS-165W-LED-Aquarium-Light-Built-in-Timer-SPS-LPS-Coral-Reef-Dimmable".

I may buy a 3rd for a different tank, can't beat it for the price.

I'm still old school using MH lighting, but if I was to upgrade to LED then I would probably spend a few more dollars and get a WIFI version. Which you can simulate sunrise and sunset and even lunar cycles if that's important to you.

If you just want basic LED with no timer then the Mars Aqua are probably the best, but adding the cost of timers will increase the price unless you have a controller to control timing.
