Several weeks ago I posted about the bio scum on my water surface. One of you suggested a surface skimming device that would work with my canister filter. This morning I did a water change and some maintenance as well as installing the new skimmer attachment. Typically I scoop from the surface to change my water to eliminate as much scum as possible. After finishing I showered and came back downstairs. Not only was the surface crystal clear, the entire aquarium now shimmers. The difference is astonishing. I am quite pleased with my $11 investment. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I can go back to siphoning for water changes.
Just one quick question, however... The device has an adjustment "screw," allowing for greater suction at top or bottom. In order for top suction to occur, very little water is actually being taken in from the mid to lower section of the water column. Is this or will this create a different issue, such as surplus bio material on the rocks or substrate?
Thanks, all, and blessings!
