SW into Septic Tank?

Dumping salt down your drain to your septic is just adding a little burden to you system. Will it shorten the life of your septic system? Yes how much I don't think anybody can tell you. I choose to not dump it down the drain to save me the trouble. All the salt you add to your tank is going down the drain, it does not matter what the size of your tank is since all the water will eventually go out to the drain field.

If you can I would find somewhere else to dump it and if not possible just dump it in the drain.

This is probably like the smoking and nonsmoking debate, will it hurt probably but nobody can tell you how much. I feel better to be on the safe side than put $15k into a new septic.

Also, I've been told by a septic installer that products like RidX are a complete waste of $$. He told me to dump any sour milk or dairy products down the drain. THAT has all the bacteria you'd ever need. Don't know how true that is though.

Wow I forgot all about this post! I've been putting my water changes into my septic for over 4 years now (I can't believe it's been that long since I asked this question), with no apparent ill effects. I don't do water changes as much as I should, but it seems to be OK.
FWIW - All septic treaments are completely unnecessary, and they can actually do more harm than good. Our local health dept discourages their use becuase they break up the sludge in the tank, and carry it to the field where it will clog it. The sludge is supposed to stay in the tank where it can be periodically pumped out.
