sweetlips clown difficulty and food?

my lfs sold this to me then i got home and did some researched and learned how difficult they are to keep should i get rid of it? anyone with any experience especially with what to feed it? thanks!
 
Well two things to be noted they get to almost 2 feet in length and they are not reef safe. You need to go slap that LFS in the face over selling you this fish. They are also Expert Only fish. They prefer to be fed live shrimp and they grow rather quickly.

I have no personal experience with them, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night :D

Bring it back and have a very stern talking to with that LFS owner :hammer:

What he said. Obviously trusting that LFS is an act of futility.
 
do you guys know why it suddenly dies? has anyone ever figured that out or is it still a mystery? other than nutrition defiencency
 
Well there is usually a reason for any fish dying, sometimes we never know what that reason was.

You need to bring that fish back tomorrow IMO and not worry about keeping it at all.

Cool looking fish as a juvenile if you have a big tank with triggers and such... I ordered one once for a client who absolutely wanted one , we got it to eat frozen squid cubes , mussels and formula one but to kickstart feeding we'd give him feeder guppys, mollies, ghost shrimps and tiny baby goldfish.
It gets humongous , so unless you have at least 8' tank , I'd say your lfs guy doesn't give a rats *** about clients or is possibly slightly retarded...
 
LOL even an 8' tank is too small, they get to 2' in length. I don't think any fish would be happy being in a tank where it's 25% of the tank length.

Right , you are ! but it's unfortunate "common sense " doesn't seem to be standard equipment ....I think it comes as an option that people don't choose to get... A bit like flashers on a BMW! [emoji16]
 
That's why I love my LFS, she makes me bring water to test even though they guarantee their fish before I buy anything. She gets a rundown of what you have , fish, corals, equipment before she sells you something that needs extra care. She's a Diamond.

They all SHOULD do this. It is actually in their best interest to make sure all of their customers have successful tanks.
 
I have one I got last June, so a year and a half. There is a thread on a local fourm which the guy has been updating for a few years. When the sweetlips was small he fed it 3-4 times a day. When it reached 4 inches 2 -3 times as it grew he cut down to once a day. I did they same thing as him. The fish is about 6 inches now.
