These photo were emailed to me, they were taken out at Ship Shoal 274 area off the Louisiana coast the last couple days of August 2009. Thought I would pass them on, so everyone could enjoy them.

It is my understanding that they were taken from one of the decks of the platform or rig.

Yeah, I was wondering what that shadow was in some of the pictures... Must be the deck of the platform. Makes sense now.

Wow... How cool to swim with the biggest fish in the ocean. That one looks like just a little guy... I hear that they get up to 50 feet or so, with tales of ones more than 60 feet...

I hear that you can rent a helicopter in the Sea of Cortez (west coast of Mexico, but east of the Baja) to go looking for them.

Neat stuff, for sure. Seeing a big, healthy animal like that interacting pleasantly - and by choice - with humans makes me smile.

Makes me wonder if the hunter-killer guys in the boat changed their perspective on hunting and killing after such an intimate experience with such a majestic creature.

why hang onto the animal?! what a complete moron. That shows a complete lack of respect and ignorance. You were lucky enough to see it, why couldnt you just watch it?

there was a lady arrested a few years ago from photos she took of herself and close contact under water with a particular species of wild life, I dont remember exactly what the animal was.
