Switching nems

I have a saddleback that I've had for some time. It is paired w/ a LTA that I've had for the same amount of time. The LTA is too big and I want to sell it. I recently bought a RBTA that is doing well. Do you guys think the saddleback will be likely to pair up the the new RBTA once the LTA is gone? Even if they don't do the whole host thing, I just wanna make sure the Saddleback will be OK if I lose the LTA.

Also, my Saddleback dives into the LTA only occasionally. It doesn't seem to really wiggle around in it like I've seen other clowns do. It sleeps inside at night for sure. Is that something that is clown specific or is that maybe genus specific?

Thanks,

Josh

Back in the day I had a pair of saddlebacks, at the time they had a choice between a Haddoni carpet and BTA (the carpet being the natural host) they would spend most of their time in the carpet but would go into the BTA once in awhile. The male would be the one that would go into BTA most -- the female was being a....well not nice. ;) Just like any clown there is a chance that it won't go into the BTA, but if your LTA is getting too big and you want to sell it, might as well try it, it isn't going to hurt the clown at all.

that is all true they will probobly host the BTA given time. they dont neeed the anemone anyway.

Have had too many saddlebacks to count, none have ever refused any hosting anemone. Not to mention, the multitude of non hosting species they have encountered.

My concern in the example provided, saddlebacks can be rough on their anemones, small ones have a tougher time with the abuse.

My RBTA is 6" fully opened. My saddleback is not tough on the LTA I just gave away. It actually spent very little time in it at all.

Its beyond the point now anyway. The Saddleback started flopping around in the RBTA 10 minutes after the LTA was out of the tank. I put the RBTA in the same location as the LTA had been.
I'm pleased as pie.
