SWSW sales?

Yes super nice corals a few torches I really really wanted! But promised the gf I'd cut back on tank spending haha well atleast for this month

I was also in today and had to reluctantly leave some goodies at the store. They got some great zoos in and a VERY cool tunicate. Like light blue pom-poms.

Here it is, settling into its new home. This thing is so badass. I love it!

From the research I've done, not really. It's non-photosynthetic, and is a filter feeder (like any other tunicate). I have plenty of hitch hiker tunicates in my tank, so I am able to sustain them without even trying. Hopefully this guy will be no different. Supposedly they drop their pom poms about once a month, and grow them back. Mine is a bright blue color -- it looks better and healthier than any of the ones I've seen for sale online. And I paid less for it at SWA than I have seen on most sites selling them.

I also picked up a rock of fire and ice zoas, and another rock of bright blue zoas. They had tons of nice stuff in there today! I could have easily spent my whole paycheck, hahaha.

Oh yeah and an achilles tang. Such a pretty fish. I have always like them, but never was brave enough to try one.

Tunicates are non-photosynthetic and rely on water movement... I would imagine they'd like dirtier water but I've never owned any.

I have three different types of hitch hiker tunicates on my rocks. Yellow, white and black. They are not difficult to keep happy, especially since I feed my tank so heavily.

If you have a chance, post a pic of the hitchhiker tunicates. I'm curious if I might have some - or if they are just little pompom sponges...

They look like balls with holes in them. I'll see if I can get some pics. They are under ledges, so it's kinda hard to get to them.

I've got a few hitchiker tunicates as well... also a pink sponge with tubes like a tunicate.

Bifferwine, those fire and ice zoos were mine (in my head, anyhow). I dislike you right now. I'll dislike you less if those blue tunicates take off and I can buy a frag from you. It was all I could do not to buy them today.

Just what I need...a local coral temptress. It's hard enough to resist buying the cherry corals online. I'm going over there tomorrow to see if there's anything left.

If I tell you that I only bought one of the fire and ice frags, and that there were at least two more, would that make you hate me less? Because it's true. They had a few rocks of them!

If the tunicates grow, you can have some!

There was one fire and ice colony left when I visited today. Nice color, but I already have them, so I passed. Also alot of common/drab zoa colonies. I was impressed, however, by their fish selection.

This has been a great thread....losing Mike sucked, but so did losing Jason when he left Petland...then Oasis...then SWSW... Now he's off drilling for oil in Oklahoma...

Best of luck to the new store on campbell/glenn and the new owners at SWSW. They're going to learn and improve to stay in business. Sounds like they have already picked it up a bit. Tucson and surrounding area is plenty big enough to sustain 2 good stores if they have their act together. I just got back from San Diego, they have a couple of really nice stores with some really unique and high quality product. Would be great to have something of that level in Tucson. And I'm more than happy to support a local business vs. out of state internet businesses on fish and coral purchases, food, and supplements, and tank purchases.
