From the research I've done, not really. It's non-photosynthetic, and is a filter feeder (like any other tunicate). I have plenty of hitch hiker tunicates in my tank, so I am able to sustain them without even trying. Hopefully this guy will be no different. Supposedly they drop their pom poms about once a month, and grow them back. Mine is a bright blue color -- it looks better and healthier than any of the ones I've seen for sale online. And I paid less for it at SWA than I have seen on most sites selling them.
I also picked up a rock of fire and ice zoas, and another rock of bright blue zoas. They had tons of nice stuff in there today! I could have easily spent my whole paycheck, hahaha.
Oh yeah and an achilles tang. Such a pretty fish. I have always like them, but never was brave enough to try one.
