Syracuse area - reefcleaners.org order

All,

Thinking about putting in an order with reefcleaners.org. I need some hermits and snails. For snails they're the cheapest around even if you factor in priority shipping for a smallish order, but they want to ship orders with hermits via more-expensive express mail, so it only really makes sense if you want A LOT of hermits (like, 100+, which is too many for me). The prices are very good though which makes it tempting anyways. Just wondering if anyone in the Syracuse area would be interested in going in on a group order to split the shipping. We can split the shipping cost proportionately based on the sizes of each persons' orders. If you're interested, post here or send me a PM. Will likely order tomorrow.

fyi:

the Nerites I bought from them are really annoying; They hang out at the top of the glass in the day, and climb out at night.

The dwarf ceriths have a foot that is about a 2mm diameter (read, very close to useless); Just get the Florida ceriths for a few cents more... you will get way more in firepower than you spend upgrading to the normal sized ceriths.

The Red Mangroves that they sell are unsprouted seeds (no leaves or roots).

Get the reef pods.

If I could go back I would pay for the o/n shipping and get Limpets in lieu of the Nerites, nix the dwarf ceriths and just get the real ones, and ditch the mangroves and decide on some sort of macro. I still might do this in the future...

If you ever do, skip the limpets. I had grabbed some of those from them when I had my dwarf seahorse tank and they did the same... up and out of the water.

Thanks for the info. I had limpets that came on live rock from Gulf View and never had that problem. I am just wondering if reefcleaners is collecting varieties that are on rocks that are exposed in low tide, maybe; perhaps that is why they always want to leave the tank??

What do you all suggest for snails to "run" the LR and keep it dust and detritus free? Second most important function would be running the glass to keep it clean.

Thanks, Pasquale. I read the link- and have owned all those snails (and still do). I also found that the large turbo snails are nice grazers. Just wondering what you all might have found as a "great" snail addition. I still feel like I could use some more LR and glass grazers.

Jeremyjoslin, if you really just want one of the quick crews, you might as well order on your own - they include free shipping. Not trying to deter you and if you want a different order lemme know and we can work something out.

Had a PM or two with people wanting to get in. If anyone else is interested, please PM me by noon today and plan on sending me a paypal for the cost of your purchase once I respond to your PM. I'll probably order today which means they'll be here tomorrow afternoon.
