T5 lamp PAR readings

it seem to me that Refector appear to be very different brand to brand. the Icecap http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache...r+ice+cap+reflectors&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=4
looks very different than this aqualux http://www.aqualuxlighting.com/reflectors.html

they both claim to have 95% reflectiveness but...

I read here that some one has compared them, but I must have missed who, and what the results were. what are the recomended reflector. I guess their is no good DIY type reflectors that are close to as good?

The Ice Cap was the best hands down. The Aqualux which was the same as ATI's retro reflectors was right there output wise but they are larger at just over 3" wide. The problem is the size of the aqualux makes it a poor choice unless you are only using them for supplimental lighting for halides.

I would do 1 GE Daylight, 1 Actinic or Super Actinic, 1 Aquablue and the rest Blue Plus. The Blue Plus have a good amount of PAR as does the GE and Aquablue.

any idea where the best place ( price) to get these bulbs is?

also... price aside.. is the ATI the best T5 reflector/ all on one unit out?

Id say that the fauna-marin ultra-solaris are the best overall units. Their modular nature means you can swap out reflectors as you wish, and they use quality compnonents like waterproof endcaps. They are an 'open-ended' design where you can easily add on fans to the end if you wish, or replace the reflectors with the Icecap SLRs if you want. They dont have the look of the ATI though... Ill give it that.

I'd say nobody knows until a PAR meter is applied to one of their units. I personally will never use their products based on the owner's (or whatever his capacity within that company was) comments on the ATI thread that was removed. Very low classed. Wanna impress me, don't talk crap about the competition, tell me why yours is better. They join Sunlight Supply on my do not buy list.

I actually got registered but I only have access to some of the stuff. When I try to go to the ATI posts it only gives the option to log off, actually everything in the lighting and technology will not let me go into it.

Bulb Placement & Actinic Replacement

Bulb Placement & Actinic Replacement

<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=8470060#post8470060 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by The Grim Reefer
A sun or daylight, ATI aquablue and blueplus and UVL super actinic seems to be the way to go.
Grim,

I'm looking at T5 fixtures (ATI?) since T6 bulb & fixture selections are so sparse today. Is the above bulb combination still your recommendation for a 4x54-watt T5HO fixture?

How would you pair these bulbs with the two power cords for a dawn-dusk lighting scheme?

If I decide not to use an actinic bulb, what would you replace the UVL SA with? I prefer a full spectrum of colors with a blue tint.

Thanks!

That should be a good mix. I had a ATI Sun Pro, ATI Aquablue, ATI Blue Plus, ATI Actinic in a 39 watt power module and it looked pretty good and had a ton of PAR. It was just slightly blue. I would use the Blue Plus and Actinic for dusk/dawn. If you drop the actinic I would get a Blue Plus for a more blue look and a Aquablue for more white.

You would lose if you put T6 in most T5 reflectors. Lamp for lamp the Fauna Marin T5 I have right now is way more intense and I have an ATI unit on the way that is supposed to be even better. More intensity with less wattage is hard to beat. I will try to get a reading on a T6 in a reflector vs a T5 once I am set up in the garage for some decent testing.
