I just picked up a baby tail spot last week. He is the only fish in the tank so far and seems to be doing well. It's pretty funny watching my skunk shrimp chase him around trying to clean him, lol.
He was out and about the night I put him in the tank, and seems to be when I'm not around, but now as soon as I come into the room he retreats back to his hiding spot behind a rock where he can just barely stick his head over and stare at me (he is staring at me as I type this). He will duck away and hide completely if I do something he doesn't like.
Is it normal for tail spots to be very shy, or is he probably just not used to me yet? I wanted one because I've heard they are quite sociable and people love them, I was hoping he'd be more fearless.
Also, how often should I feed him? And what can I feed him? I bought some tiny formula pellets for herbivores and some frozen mysis shrimp and I have not seen him eat either yet, although he may just not want to eat in front of me and does once I leave.
Any input is appreciated,
Thanks.
