Tail spot Blenny

I just picked up a baby tail spot last week. He is the only fish in the tank so far and seems to be doing well. It's pretty funny watching my skunk shrimp chase him around trying to clean him, lol.

He was out and about the night I put him in the tank, and seems to be when I'm not around, but now as soon as I come into the room he retreats back to his hiding spot behind a rock where he can just barely stick his head over and stare at me (he is staring at me as I type this). He will duck away and hide completely if I do something he doesn't like.
Is it normal for tail spots to be very shy, or is he probably just not used to me yet? I wanted one because I've heard they are quite sociable and people love them, I was hoping he'd be more fearless.

Also, how often should I feed him? And what can I feed him? I bought some tiny formula pellets for herbivores and some frozen mysis shrimp and I have not seen him eat either yet, although he may just not want to eat in front of me and does once I leave.

Any input is appreciated,
Thanks.

Mine did that for the first few weeks, hiding that is, but got braver ever since. He still won't stray too far from his rock. Whenever we walk into the room he hides but is right back out fairly quickly. He always watches me when I peek about the tank.

We feed once a day. I feed mine frozen spirulina brine, Omega One Super Veggie Kelp flakes, occasional frozen Emerald Entree, and frozen mysis. He seems to dig the flakes the best. He is constantly picking at the rocks too.

Give him a little time, like most fish they tend to hide upon their arrival. once comfortable they are curious fish with lots of personality.

Mine did the same...over time he got to where when I come into the room he runs to the front to be fed. Once a day is MORE enough food. They like to eat the algae that grows on your rock as their main diet. My loves meaty food even though they are supposed to be vegs. Keep the peices very very very small..they cant chew up their food like some fish. You will love this guy...best fish ever.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
I put some frozen mysis in the tank right after I posted this last night, and finally saw him eat.

I noticed this! He was taking the tiniest little pieces and seemed to have trouble with large ones. Do they not have teeth?
I already am quite enjoying him. Even though pretty much all I see is his head, it's quite a funny little head

My little guy hardly ever hid but I attribute that to him being the only one in the tank (not even a shrimp). He eats everything I feed and is quite photogenic!

LOL! I hope he doesn't sleep in too late or it turn from a powerhead to a Maxi-jet Blenny cannon

IDK what the deal is with these blennies and pupmps/powerheads. I have to be very carefull when I shut down my powerhead. As soon as the pump is off the Tailspot goes right into it. Its a koralia pump so if I start it with him in there its game over.

My tailspot is very outgoing......
I think, like most fish, it just takes them alittle while to be comfortable in their new tank.
I'm sure it will be fine in a few weeks

I'm very interested in these fish. Are there any issues with having them in a reef? Are they pretty aggressive eaters or will they need to be watched in order to make sure they are eating?? Thanks in advance!

Well everything's been going great with my tailspot, he is still shy but seemsto be getting more comfortable.
I woke up today to find this -

LOL! It seems tailspot blennies have an affinity for powerheads.
