Tan and white striped anemone

I was told by the LFS that it is a LTA. I have never seen one like this at LFS's or online. Don't have any pics because I don't have a photobucket account. The anemone is tan with white stripes that start at the mouth and go along the tenticles and then back down the other side of the tenticle. By the discription does anyone know what kind it is?

Does it have long tenticles and is the underside of the oral disk spotted? What color is the foot? I had a similar anemone from your description and mine was an LTA.

Did it look like this?

Nice nem Dalston.
I got a pink that looked very similar, but like many colored LTA's it went more beige.
I had never seen an LTA w/ lines on disc before mine, and Dalstons looks pretty much the same.

Dalston that is exactly what it looks like. So it is an LTA and yes the foot is reddish. I had never seen one like that so I had to get it and figured that the price was pretty good, paid $36. Nem is about 5" to 6" wide. Thanks for the help.

I figured it was pretty cheap. Not sure if the kid at the LFS had the correct price. About six weeks ago we bought a two fist sized zoe rock that had about three different types on it for like $34. Before we checked out the LFS owner came over and said that the coral was actually $80 and that the kid gave me the wrong price. I kind of know the owner and he gave it to me for $34 since they quoted me that price. Sometimes ignorance of a LFS worker is good.

Davocean, I was hoping you would chime in, love your anemone and the 'cassos go great with it...

Believe it or not, I picked mine up at Petco for $19.99. Sadly mine is no longer with me, lost it to an uncovered koralia after 2 years of staying in the exact same spot.

I was wondering if I am acclimating the nem correctly? It is in my coral qt tank which is 10g 12" tall and I have a JBJ Viper 150w 14k about a foot off the water. The tank has quite a bit of circulation. The nem is on the bottom of the tank so it is about 2' from the light. It can get to some shade under the frag rack. The nem was kept in a shallow tank about 10" tall with T5's directly over it. The nem was about 1' from the lights. I have had it for a couple of days and it has looked ok but it has not latched on to anything yet and it balloons up every now and then and then settles back down in the same corner where there is the lightest flow. I have two HOB filters for circulation. One is for a 10g tank and the other is for like a 40-60g tank. Should I turn one of these off to reduce the flow? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well thanks, wish I had a better report myself.
I had a weird deal not long back that I fed my nems silversides, and almost immediately they released foot, and turned inside out.
They deteriated quickly after.
I had read a similar exp on here about same time, and I'm pretty sure it was toddrtrex that said this happened to him as well, and since doesn't feed silvers anymore.
Not sure if silvers were bad or what.
I got 3 BTA's now, and all doing great.
No more silvers for me, just mysis.

Is there sand in that coral qt tank? If not, you may have trouble getting an M. Doreensis to settle in. They like to put their foot in deep sand and attach their foot to the bottom of the tank. Some times they attach to a rock under the sand too. How long do you plan on keeping it in a 10 gallon?

Yeah, good point, didn't see the QT comment.
I don't QT nems, and I'd hate to think of getting it to let go if it does settle, gotta be careful not to tear foot.

No sand but there are three 4-5" rocks on the bottom. I was hoping to get him to settle on one of these. I qt everything after losing all my fish to ich about 8 months ago. I qt fish for 5 weeks as long as there haven't been any problems and I qt corals/inverts in a separate qt tank for 6 weeks. How would you add corals/inverts without adding any tank water from where you bought them? I may be a little anal but after losing several hundred dollars worth and having to wait about 2 months to wipe out ich in my tank, I don't know what else to do but qt everything. If someone has a better idea let me know.

I worry about ich too, I went through a fishless 120g tank for two months and kept my two clownfish in the 29g qt durring that time. You don't have to worry about anemones carrying ich unless its attached to liverock. When you acclimate it to your display. Make sure you acclimate it long enough to totally replace the water the anemone is in with your display water. M. Doreensis need deep sand and good lights to be happy. They also don't like strong water flow. I've had my purple LTA for almost two years now and its still doing very well. I hope yours is ok. How does it look today?

The nem looks fine. It is kind of stretching it's foot like it is reaching upwards. Do I need to lower the light a little? I started with the light all the way up but moved it down a couple of inches last night.
