Tang idea needed

Any ideas of what type of tang this is I got him very small on a trade and I'm still not sure what he is

Use the flash on your camera... while it may alter the colors some, it'll get a sharper image.

Looks to be Acanthurus of some sort I believe from the pic. Maybe a maculiceps?? I say that because of the white stripe at the base of the tail, although I don't see any freckles on the face? It also seems unlikely you would get a maculiceps on a trade

Well the kid that traded said it was a bristail tooth .that's what he bought it as it was very small when he gabe it to me about a silver half dollar ..

The face shape looks very bristletooth-like to me, but I can't see the lips well in the pictures. Does it have the triangle shaped mouth? Is the fish actually as grey as it appears in the pictures?

The mouth doesn't look like a bristlail to me .when compared to my khole tang .the mouth lokks more beaklike ..he is pretty much grey althouhh when he fihhts or feels threatened u do se a bunch of wavy lines across the body .he is very thick looks to me he just started growing and is going to gwt big which to me means he may not be a bristooth ..

When I looked online a small bristletooth is solid yellow but he never was and I got him when he was very small

Yeah, young Acanthurus tangs don't develop the signiture sloping forehead until they get a bit larger. Other than that little dip in the head, and if you say he doesn't have he right mouth, def Acanthurus sp. I can say with certainty that he is one of the larger species.. Does he have any yellow around or behind the eye?

The one I have has yellow around the eye and I'm starting to notice some yellow and blue thin lines on the top dorsal fin

Nah forget it its not as clear as I thought ill do the nori pic when I get home that will bring him nice and close for a face shot he loves nori
