that is the truth... there is a reason they have a min tank size recommended....

ummm those statistics come from a web site, Yes, but are written by ppl and researchers who actually have or had experiance with this fish. it wasnt jus made up...

the answer to your question is No it will not do well in your tank.

Well either your description is a bunch 'o bs (you have a stoney reef and your interests are marine biology), or your thread is :)

Yeah, but who are they to determine the minimum size requirements.

why are you wanting an arguement.. you asked; we told... if you want to keep it then do so.. then when you post back in 3 months about a sick tang with hllde and ick in a 10 gallon tank i will know it was you...

for real give the tang a better home.. you can keep some clowns but in a 10 gallon tank you are really stuck with what type of fish you can have..

Yeah, thats what i plan on doing eventually.I was just curious to hear peoples opinions on the subject.
BTW,I'm not arguing with ya Bebo,I just think that the care requirements(not just for tangs, specifically corals) posted by online retailers are a bunch of BS. Alot of the information they give is vague and generalized .Almost as if they copied it out of a reef/fish book that was published 20yrs ago.
For example"Tank Conditions: 72-78ºF; sg 1.020-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4"
The average temparture of reefs is 82 degrees F.The salinity is 1.026.You would think the conditions that these fish/corals are found at in nature would be the conditions that one should try to duplicate.

well even if you're interested in putting that vlamingi in your 75gal. the fish still won't be happy, i knew someone w/a vlamingi in a 385 gal tank and it still looked cramped. these fish really do get big they're one of the larger tangs. If you want to keep a tang in your 75 gal i'd probably go w/a yellow or purple. Good luck.

what a waste of time...... what the hell do you think people will say.

most dont want purples or yellows in a 55 so a massive tang lke a vlamingi in a 10 is just bait waiting for some stupid argument....

Like i said,I wanted to hear opinions, even your well thought out response which by the way is much more argumentitive than what i have said.

this is just WRONG why are you trying to justify this there is no reason why you should keep one in a 10 gallon and they grow up to 24 inches a 10 isnt even that long. its people like you that make certian kinds of fish endangered becaus you try to do stupid stuff like this and just keep trying stupid stuff like this i cannot believe this it is just WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong, why do you say its people like me?Am i the one collecting then exporting these fish to our country?DO you even know what fish/inverts are on the list of "overcollected/endangered"?
BTW,its people like you that make me want to keep a tang in a 10gal

ROFL..... how did you get 1280 posts on here with such a bad attitude...

mate its your god given right to go jump off a cliff to...

so are you happy with the response you were after so badly. you knew when u posted this thread that you would get not one supporting post and would get a number of replys stating how cruel you are, so no u were not after opinions u were after a stupid argument.
