Hi Guys,

Asking for the friend, since his English is limited. (my also is not perfect :sad1:)

He has 180G fish only with seven tangs ~ 5" long
Blue hippo, yellow, Naso, Cole Yellow eye, Convict, Salifin, Tomini.

he wants to get corals and here is the question. Is tang's tank compatible with the corals? I know some tangs are not really reef save, but here is also question about swimming. My hippo sometimes brakes SPS as result of the movement
Please advice
Thanks

Yes the tangs you listed are reef safe with all types of corals... Nothing is 100% but tangs are a great choice for a reef tank!

I think his more serious problem is going to be when those tangs reach maturity, the 180 is going to be way too small, even with no corals or rocks.

My Naso was 13", Pacific blue was 10", and Sailfin was 9". So as you can see, they do get big, even in a home aquarium. ;)

Yes, you might suggest to him that he remove a few of the tangs. I had a hepatus and a sailfin in an 8 foot tank, and they got along for several years until they decided they didn't like each other anymore. Not a pretty sight.

Personally, I think the tank would do best with the hepatus, and either the tomini (love them) or perhaps the kole.

You might let him know that large fish poop large amounts, and he will have less trouble keeping corals if his bioload is more reasonable.

Very well said, Brian. I am giving this a +1.
