Tank of the Month - June '05

Congratulations! Beautiful tank.

Can you comment on your substrate? What material, how deep, and what cleaning, if any do you do?

Your tank is stunning, I like how your setup
is neat and organized. Absolutely beautiful!

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments.

Things to do differently..... In priority as I see it.

Starfire Glass
Aquascaping for better flow, probably CL too.
400 watt lights for better penetration with fewer.
Thats really about it.

jaredg1 - as far as modifying the skimmer. Pretty simple, get another pump (I used sedra 5000) get 2 grommets from McMaster.com (IIRC), drill two 1 1/4" holes. Build a couple little pvc joints to position the pump where convenient within sump, and away ya go. I placed the holes opposite of one of the other sets, 3 sets of holes 90 degrees apart.

tom obrecht - Magnesium Media came from Madison aka OUinLA. I may not be accurate on the brand tho. He carries the grotech and the KZ.

Dag - Substrate is Caribsea Aragonite Oolitic. The depth varies between 1-2 ". Still blows around a good bit. Eventually will be replaced with something a little bigger and just enough to cover the bottom glass. I personally don't care for the BB look. But agree with the benefits.

Amazing tank, job well done. I do have one question, this may be a silly question but when you say "Nutrient reduction is accomplished with the Zeovit system." What does that exactly mean?
Again, amazing tank. Makes me want to upgrade my 30 to a 3000 haha.
Good job again!

your tank is awesome. just one question. what trace lements do you add because everybody has different opinions i was told to put in marinvit plus and drip kalk at night. wanna make sure this sounds somewhat right before i do something bad. thanks

BEAUTIFUL TANK!!! My husband and I are in the beginnings of planning out an in-wall tank. We currently have 3 tanks (95, 60 and 28, all acrylic) and want to get down to just one. You mention your tank is manufactured by LeMar, I could not find them on the internet, do you know if they have a web page? Congratulations on being named Tank of the Month!!!
