Tank swap and keep existing sand?

dry sand. LS is just used sand. not any different, then using your old sand. the chances of all of its phosphate binding sites filled is greater. not something you want. all of those critters you "want" in the sand will populate from the LR.

Its cheaper to use aragonite rather than live sand. You could use regular and seed from the old. Eventually it will become all live sand and you saved a few bucks in the process.

Is it possible? Or would it be better to get new sand for the other tank?

How much sand are we talking about? If it's relatively a small amount, you might as well just rinse it thoroughly and reuse it. Many people do this without any problems. If it's a ton of sand, (large tank) it might not be worth the hassle. Either way though, your still going to have to clean some sand.

I have used old sand in my tanks and not had any problems, just rinse it really well and it should be OK. IMO.
