Tank2379 60G RR Cube Build

Today I received my Apex Jr- I am already in love with this thing and using Aqua Notes is the coolest feature ever Messed around with it for a bit just to see how easy is it to connect- I have a Gaming adapter on order also to make it wireless ...

I was running a Mag24 on my skimmer a couple years back, it even had an effect on a 240G total volume system.

When I switched it for a GenX55, I first used it in my mixing barrel, I was shocked at how fast it raise the temp of a barrel of 28 gallons so fast and so hot, it was like bathwater...and yet, using the 24 was way overkill for mixing :)

Mag 24 uses whopping 265 watts. That is why it runs so hot. And why mag pumps put out more heat than other comparable pumps.

Well I decided to change some things up so I ended up switching out my Vortech from an ES to a wES and I also picked up the Tunze Return Pump Silence 1073.020- Build will be starting by the end of next week can't wait-:celeb1::celeb1::celeb1:

Well Saturday I started pre-measuring for Plumbing, also went and picked up a can of Black spray paint of course for background. Anyhow here is a PIc of the overflow plumbing

More to come

I think the flapper cost more being you'd most likely have to order it. I made the riser out of the tee flush with the top of the tank on Kevin's tank and it's nice and quiet and you don't see it. Also i like to use one size larger on the ball valves and unions and bush them down on drains since they are'nt full size ports.

Thanks- Going to HD after work to pick up the last pieces of tubing for the Return- Going to hopefully finish this up today if not tomorrow, then I am hoping to do a water test then Aquascape this weekend and add Saltwater by the starting of next week...

Long night so many things that needed to be done in my apartment since we just moved but I found time to get the return plumbed and the 60G out of the Box finally..

More to come...:-)

Btw I still have to paint the background black which I hopefully can do tomorrow. All PVC will be black spray painted..

I also forgot to mention that I just decided not to go with a Check Valve since I didn't use one in my last setup...

If you change your mind, I have a true union flapper check valve you can have, I had it on my return on the 72 tank. I think its 1/2" but will have to check, maybe 3/4, I cant remember.

Thanks for the offer Andy I might take you up on it in the future if needed- unless you sell it before hand or give it to someone else

Moving right along- Background painted Black- Overflow is done (Plumbing completed) :)... I spent most of last night finishing up the plumbing I used flexible tubing instead of the hard PVC- Looks a little twisted--lol but its holding up really well plus- I felt this will reduce some tension on the single 1 inch bilkhead fitting and glass. With this not being as thick as my 72G bow front I figure I tank some pre-cautions.. Anyhow it's all completed and ready to be tested and filled later today when I get home from WORKS...
