Tek t5???

Im looking to upgrade my lights and the tek t5 4x54 watt fixture is in my price range. I have heard mixed reviews on it. SHould i get the acyrlic lens covering? Some people say no but then what about all the salt creeep? ALso people say the reflectors get stained? Is there anything you can do to prevent that? Wouldnt the acrylic lens prevent the reflectors from getting stained?

I run the Tek 54w X 4 on my 75. Lights about 6 in. off the water and no cover only eggcrate on the tank. I do see a little salt splash on the reflectors but it wipes right off.

I don't have any experience with the Tek t5, but the acrylic cover will deminish the amount of light considerably, especially when it gets "dirty". However, the cover will keep the reflector and bulbs free of salt spray.

I personally wouldn't run the cover on it. I would just wipe the bulbs and reflector every couple days. On the plus side to not using the cover, you will keep the bulbs running cooler which will help increase bulb life.

the cover warped under the heat of mine. So I don't put it on.
