Test kit recommendations

Greets all,

I am in the process of assembling equipment and supplies for setting up a TBS system (50 gal w/ sump). With any luck and lacking interference from the gods of finance I hope to be placing an order toward the end of March. Towards this end and really liking the input of those who frequent this forum, I'm looking for recommendations for water test kits (and possibly a reliable source). I have a pH meter on order as well as a salinity refractometer but will need Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite tests as well as calcium and alkalinity. I'm also trying to control cost . Salyfert (sp?) is highly regarded but 2 problems have arisen, They tend to be a bit costly and everyone seems to be sold out of them.

Has anyone had experience with the FastTest tests and are they reliable? Or would another (RedSea or ?) be better. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I have the red sea and it is hard to read the ammonia level, colors never match so I'm not that happy with it. I won't buy again.
