Sean,

Thanks for hosting us tonight, I for own truly enjoyed it. Thanks for the killer deals, and the nano setup, it's already got sand, rock and water in it, and once the sand settles, the first frags are going in it tomorrow (gotta love 20 minute setups from a larger tanks!).

Thanks to everyone else, hope your stuff made it home alright! Sorry for ducking out before dinner, had planned on staying, but the new goodies made think it wiser to start the long drive home.

Matt

Sorry I had to miss this one. I was plannin' on attending to take advantage of the 25% off reptiles. But I have a corn snake that will be laying eggs in about 3 weeks. Hopefully this round will be successful.

Hope everyone had a great time. I wanna hear details....any raffles?

Steve

Everyone bought some stuff, we fragged up a blasto, then everyone either left or ate. That was about it. :)

BTW, Steve... Wayne took home a snake, but I can't remember exactly which one. You'll have to ask him. :D (BTW... never go back into EBay after everyone eats... Sean has an impulse buy ray that he fires up... Wayne fell victim to it twice... :D )

Brandon

It was a great meeting, super discounts and good food after the meeting. Thanks Sean. & thanks for joining us for some food and conversation after Angela let you out of your store. I think she had a 1/2 ton of sand & salt in the little SUV :) it sure sat low in the rear.

Norman

Sean, sorry we missed it. Destiny and I wanted to attend but I had to work a double Sat and Sun. She really likes you and your store. You have been so nice to her! The people with MTRC are great. Wayne, Joy, Norman, and Brandon to name a few! She is 10 and she said that she feels grown up when she talks to you. ( They talk to me like I am one of them, a adult, and answer my questions! ) Hope everyone had a great time! Sorry we missed yall. Ricky

So Wayne....what kind of snake did you get? I'm really wantin' another corn snake. It would have to be a blizzard or butter motley though.

It has been 4 weeks since my corns mated. So, she will probably lay eggs in 2-3 weeks. I'm gonna get a nesting box ready tomorrow. I have decided when she does, I'm gonna take the eggs to Jeff at AC and have him incubate them. I'm just hopin' to see how they turn out. If they hatch, I'm definatley keeping one and will let them have the rest. Keeping my fingers crossed because there will be no more breeding. After they mated, I seperated them. I use to keep them in the same cage.

Steve

He got a cool venomuse looking snake ( it had the slit puples) A boa from another continent that is not in the wild anymore is all I can remember! I still can not belive Joy let him take it home and Seans master plan of letting us back in "after" the margarittas worked like a charm. Once he pointed his IBR Gun "Impulse Buy Ray Gun" at Wayne by saying Hey look at this cool snake......It was all over with

You know we love ya Sean and appreciate all you do for the club!!

All I can say is Wayne has the coolest wife ever because she doesn't even like snakes at all and let him still have one. She was warming up to the little guy by the time we left though.

Super big thanks to the awsome folks at Ebay and especially for Sean staying with me helping me make decisions and working on a pump I brought in while everyone else was having fun at the resturant. And yes i really took advantege of the discount on dry goods last night! Now that I have salt and sand and some other goodies I guess I need to order the tank this week!!

Steve... what type of corn snake babies are you expecting? I may be interested in one  My older girls are actually really into reptiles but I was also as a kid. I think the corns are so neatly patterned but naturally I would want one of the "girly" colored ones I saw last night. It would be cool to have one from a hatchling and see it grow.

Well I was planning on going but I got confused and thought it was next week.

Snakes are cool but I think chameleons are much cooler. :D

Angela, I'm not sure how it works on the babies. These are older pics, babies when I first got them.

Male is Amel

Female is Pastel Motley

I don't know if they all will be Amel or what. My female is still small. I wanted her moved out of the males tank before mating season but I was waiting on a new tank. I'm betting she will lay around 10 eggs. She laid 5 last year but she's tripled in size since. I would definately let you have one. The rest would go to AC for the troubles of incubating the eggs.

Steve

Awww, how cute!! Naturally I think the male is the more "girly" looking snake to me :) That will be neat to see how they turn out! Keep me posted and I wasn't expecting it for free. I just think if I did get a snake it would be neat ot know where it came from and have it from a hatchling!!

RC mike.... Don't feel bad I actually had my change of clothes in the car and was heading up to the meet LAST Sunday. We were working on the house and I was in the dog house with Cory for cutting out to go to the meet and leaving him with the kids. I called Sean for something else and found out it was not that day but the next week!

I would let you have one for free. This was all an accident....me bein' lazy not to set up another tank for her. Once March/April hits is when they breed I suppose. It happened same time last year. I'll keep you updated on it. I would say she should lay eggs closer to the end of this month. The it's like 40-45 days for the eggs to hatch I think.

I'm really curious to what snake Wayne got. Only thing I can think of would be a tree boa or Viper Boa maybe? No clue?

Steve

How big is the tank you're using for the corn snakes. I scared to even ask this question, but I have become more and more curious about keeping a snake. The low maintenance aspect is very appealing though.

I keep my male in a 40 breeder and my female is still in the 20 long but tomorrow I'm moving her into a 30"x18"x17" tank. I think at least a 30 long (36"x12") for one adult. I just like the 18" wide tanks better cause you have more room for hide caves and water bowl. For the first year and a half, I kept them in a 10 gal. and then moved them up to a 20 long. Now they have their own cages. They only get 4-5ft. My male is right at 3ft. They are a very easy snake to keep. There's just so many to choose from.

1st - 40 breeder - male corn
2nd - 10 gal. - western hognose and 5.5 gal - rosehair tarantula
3rd - 20 long - female corn - future home for hognose
4th - 30"x18" - future home for female corn

I really wanted a corn snake, but I'll probably go with a boa because I hear the boas are more chilled. The corn snakes are a bit more active and harder to hold, I think. At least for long periods of times. Boas will just chill with you and watch TV, surf ReefCentral, etc. :)

If I understand correctly, anyway. That about right, Steve?

Sorry Matt! We totally hijacked your thread, bro! :D Did you end up keeping that rock or going with something else?

Brandon

HaHa, my Boa (Dumerils) will chill with me while watching tv or sitting down. But walking with her around my neck, she will squeeze/tighten up. I don't know if it helps her feel more secure or what. But yea, she'll lay on the couch until I put her up. She's about my height too, 6'4". But my corns and hognose are very calm too.

Yea, sorry about the change in topic. Wished I would have made the meeting!

Steve

No, they like to do a little more exploring. I just mean they aren't hard to handle or anything. I don't keep any of the snakes out for a long period of time though. 30 minutes at the most. Mainly I only get them out when company is over and wants to see them, or when I'm cleaning the cages or feeding time. My cat likes to chill with me and I'm not sure what the boa would think about that....

Steve

Guys!!! Your killing me.... I actually went "snake shopping" today and looking at ball pythons. It is all Wayne & Joy's fault. But then I looked at, played with and fell in love with a bearded dragon. So I think I may be getting that instead of a snake. still have to read some more on care and what all is needed. But I'm getting excited about all this reptile stuff. Steve & Wayne are a bad influence on me :)

Norman

I actually plan on getting a bearded dragon next. I need another animal that will eat crickets too. My tarantula only eats 2-3 crickets a week so I end up wasting alot when I buy them.....most just die. I keep the crickets fed and put the water gel in there. They are work cause I try to keep their cage clean too. It's never ending here.
