Hi Rich,

I just ordered your renowned Live Rock from the "other" West Coast, California.

Kudos for all the work you've done for the industry and pioneering/entrepreneurial spirit you've kept throughout the years.

Looking forward to installing part 1 today or when it gets here via SouthWest airlines. I'm glad you chose SouthWest because I've had pretty good luck as a passenger as they have been 99% on-time.

I will post pics of the boxes and of course when I install into my tank.

Here's what it looks like now...

Picked up my boxes and only cost me approximately 61 dollars for shipping both boxes!

Awesome packaging.
No leaks.
Beautiful specimens.
Love the Live Rock.

That is the first shipment of sand and Live Rock and I'm getting more later.

Unfortunately, the puffer and trigger died in the Quarantine tank, I had no choice but to put the wrasse, the gobey, striped damsel and the tang in the main tank .

So far the remainder of my livestock are doing very well with the TBS Live Rock and sand. I'll be taking readings today and getting some DI water ready just in case the ammonia levels go above 1 ppm.

My EuroReef protein skimmer needed to be adjusted as the first few hours it started dumping copious amounts of water along with the foam.

So is that your first shipment of rock or you getting more later?

I found a real neat critter in the sand I think it's a sea cucumber. I took some digital pics and post them later.

It's about 3" long and about 1/2 to 1" wide and full of tentacles all over its body. The tentacles look like an anemone.

Thanks again Rich!

more to come....

A very nice difference between the fish only setup and now :D :D :D

Just a few days ago it was looking pretty cloudy but I knew the TBS Live Rock would pull through

Readings 2 days ago..
77.7 F water temperature
400ppm calcium
Nitrate 10ppm
Ammonia .25ppm
pH of 8
No Nitrite readings

Today...
77.1 F water temperature
20ppm Nitrate
0.25ppm Ammonia
2.0 ppm Nitrite
380ppm Calcium
Sp gravity 1.023

Nice tank Chris!! Just wait til you get the second shipment with even more goodies!

BTW, those readings up there look great. My 90 gallon ran similar. Then ammonia crept up to about ~.5 ppm. Did (4) 15 gallon water changes during the first 2 weeks then suddenly all readings were at zero. Then I installed my second shipment. second shipment cycle is still going; I placed that into the tank Nov 10th just to give you an idea of the cycle timeline. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback and an idea on the timeline for the cycle. :fish1:

I'm keeping an eye on the nitrate level, knowing the bacteria in the nitrogen cycle are going to convert to nitrogen gas very soon.

Best Regards :)

I think I found a nudibrach today it's flat, has two eyes, translucent-white and you can see it's gut down the centerline.

Noon readings today...

76.6 F water temperature (I'm lowering the temp on purpose per FAQ on the TBS website). Will keep it around 76 F.

10ppm Nitrate
0 ppm Ammonia
2.0 ppm Nitrite

Everyone is doing great.

No water changes since I've added the LiveRock. Set my protein skimmer to a lower skimming level so as not to overskim since two weeks ago and it seems like the Live Rock, critters and live sand are really doing their job.

76.6 F water temperature
5 ppm Nitrate
0 ppm Ammonia
0.25 ppm Nitrite
7.7 dkH
425 ppm Calcium

Found a mantis. He's very shy. Can't entice him to come out in the day. I'm not going to kill him. If I do manage to capture him, I'll put him in the 'fuge. For now, I hope he gets a hold of some gorilla crabs.
I have a science background from UC Berkeley so finding the mantis is magical to me :D

Dosing the tank with Kent Marine Phyto.

Tonight's readings:

76.1 F water temperature
0 ppm Ammonia
0.25 ppm Nitrite
5 to 10 ppm Nitrate
410 ppm Calcium

cOOL!

cOOL!
