That did not take long.

I picked up a nice H. Mag today and hopefully will have it for a long time. My clowns have not had an anemone before. Took them about a 30 sec. to get in and make themselves at home.:) The Mag attached in about a minute and has looked very good with no deflation. Here is a pick of the happy couple and their new home. I will take another tomorrow when the lights come back on.

I've read posts where clowns have never accepted an anemone. I think you have been very fortunate to get such quick acceptance. Congrats!

I will be interested to see if your clowns lose a lot of their black now that they are in a mag. In nature the percs with a lot of black are usually associated with S. gigantea while the percs that are associated with mags don't have much black. The black in my onyx percs varies in different types of anemone, but they haven't been in a Mag yet. I'm curious as to how yours clowns will react.

I will watch and see Phender. I always thought it was the BTAs that cause a loss in the black. The male is one of Rod's that I have had for about 2 years. The female is one of Doni's that I have had for about a year. I still have not noticed the Mag deflate yet.

I have a pair of black saddleback clowns that just stares at my mag all day but won't touch it. Its been like this for like 3weeks now? What are they thiking how can i get them to dive in.

Let me tell you I am super jealous, my stupid clowns keep getting stung, i am loosing hope. 3wks and counting, thinking of getting a perc like you.

I think it might have more to do with a natural host for your particular clowns. I had a pair of GSM's that were hosted by a LTA. I picked up a Gigantea from a friend that had to take his tank down because of a leak and the GSM's moved into it overnight. I returned the Gig after my buddy got his new tank stablized and found a Mag that needed a good home. My GSMs never attempted to move into it. The female would swim around it and look at it, but never touched it. She stayed with the LTA. I think my Percs would have been just as quick if I had introduced a Gig instead of the Mag because it is a natural host.

I have been feeding the tank mysis but the Mag has yet to respond to it. Still no deflation, mouth is always puckered up and it has spread out a bit more over time. I might try to pick up something else to try for the Mag. The last one I kept ate mysis with no problems. Any suggestions? I was thinking fresh tuna or table shrimp.

In another intresting observation, my female clown looks like she might be ready to lay her first batch of eggs. Coincidence after almost a week with an anemone in the tank?

Will keep you posted!!

It has been 2 mos. since I added a Magnifica to my tank. Phender wanted me to update him on the black coloration on my Percs with their new host. The Rod's onyx male is still coloring up nicely, almost complete. The female Doni's Picasso seems to have a patch of orange peeking through the black on her head, but the black is still progressing around the tail. I will post pics tomorrow when the lights are on.

Has often do you feed your anemone? My ritteri takes forever to ingest the food and the Latz seems to steal it all the time.

Quickcord, not wanting to hijack, hope you don't mind. Just read your post Maximus' and I'm curious how you negotiate the temperature in keeping Latz with magnifica. Mags like it warmer (tropical reef temps) and Latz like it cool (subtropical reef temps).

No problem at all garygb. I currently feed about 1-2 times a week. Right now it is eating chunks of tuna steaks. The clowns don't steal the tuna because I feed them at the same time(mysis). I currently am keeping my tank at 76-77 F. Mouth has never opened with the exception of feeding.
