That time of year?

Are all us locals getting sick of winter? Or geared up for better weather or something? Or are there just more of us these days?

Seems like the URS forum has had higher activity over the last month or so. Used to take a few days for a thread to "fall off" page one, now it's happening practically overnight!

It's nice to see an increased level of local participation! :)

great to be here..

Now only if this darn snow will go away for another 8 months or so lol

I've definitely noticed an increased level of participation from everyone, but from what I'm told, that is normal during these crappy-weather months

Cyclical. Seems like 6 months from now there'll be a similar post "Hello? Anyone there???".

Everyone's locked down in winter playing with their tanks. Summer hits and everyone's busy enjoying the weather, kids, vacation, etc... I've had many a night hoping the tank could go one more night with out a water change because I'm too busy or my "honey-do" list is too long.

It's been a busy winter for me and just now feels like winter started. I'm glad for winters, we're forced to slow down. just a few weeks and it's back to the bicycle to burn off the flab!

This time of year the days are getting longer by 2-3 minutes per day and only a couple more weeks with snow on the ground then... no more. I love how we all freak out with spring fever!

it's coming... My sign to get my gluttonous self back to the gym is the sports illustrated swimsuit edition. yes... it's out. that signals the timing needed to prepare for summers on irondequoit bay.

so far...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You race road? MTB? cyclocross?

I'd been riding my trainer fairly consistently but had 2 weeks off and my daughter wasn't very cooperative today either....perhaps tomorrow. I like the trainer because it allows you to blubber and cry like a little girl in the confines of your own home vs out on the road or trails with your friends. Kick butt work out though!!!

I've been biking for 2 years now and am still pathetic. But it sure has cut inches off the waist. I ride Canadice lake loop (8 miles, beautiful trail along uninhabited lake) or Honeoye lake loop 18 miles. I try to ride 4 days a week minimum.

Very nice!

I've been mountain biking since 1989, but 2 summers ago, I got a road bike to help keep in shape and train for the dirt. As nutty as I used to get on the trails, nothing compares to the fear I have while out on the road. Seems like every year some poor biker gets mowed down out on the streets. Scary!

While I love the activity on RC, I can't wait for this god-awful weather to go dormant. Believe it or not I actually lose weight in the winter from the lack of BBQ + Beer. Can't WAIT! :D

Oh great... now I need an after dinner snack. lol

Definately ready for 75 degrees, sunshine and greenery again. Tempted to attempt sleeping for the next month straight. :D

I'm curious how many people who dread winter do winter sports. It seems to help if you can get out and do some downhill or cross country, winter camping, etc.

Used to downhill ski when I lived in NH but the slopes just aren't the same here. Tried cross country and got bored. Tried snowshoes, not a good idea for me. lol I'll admit I love the exercise of shoveling the driveway but still haven't found my niche for winter activity other than reefing. :)

i hate being cold...but when I'm skiing? I don't care. Could have a lot to do with what's in the Bota bag...but i do enjoy being on the slopes.
