The 300 has begun

Well here's a pic of the tank cleared up. The rock under the light and to the left is pretty much set but you know you are never really happy with the way your rock work looks. :D

Well the tank is full and running. I'd take a picture but it's really cloudy since I added 2 bags of sand last night. I'll post a picture tonight after work.

Also I fixed my flow issue. I have the Barracuda open full throttle now. I just removed one of the 3/4" derso's in each overflow and put black egg crate on the side of the overflow boxes after removing the weirs. I have 3 drains in each over flow since I'm not using them for returns. Now I have to get my skimmer quieted down so I can run it also. :D

Looking good Steve, you have inspired me to put my nano back up :). Please keep us up on the CR build, I need one on my other tank. Thanks for keeping us posted. Oh and that RO filter, I take it that brown one is toast.

From the look of it, let me guess. The tank is 1/2" thick, 96"x30"x24" (8 ft. x 2.5 ft. x 2 ft.). I'm not sure if just a single center 1/2" brace will make that tank withstand earthquake. If you have 3/4" glass, I guess it'll be ok. But then again, you're in AZ, I'm in CA. =)

For my 300G, 120" x 24" x 24", it's made of 1/2" thick glass, stronger than Starphire so don't need 3/4". It has triple 10 inch wide 1" thick bracing (to house 4 metal halides), with custom 3" wide 1/2" thick Euro-bracing all around 360 degree around the top side of the tank. The bottom are 1" thick (double 1/2"). It's going to be a heavy sucker.

How heavy is your tank?
I'm moving mine Saturday morning from the factory less than 36 hours away.

It's actually 5/8" thick I think with a double pain on the bottom. It only has one center brace and the end 4" braces. Since I moved to AZ, I don't have to worry about the earthquakes anymore. My personal preference, I don't care for starphire because it doesn't give you the depth. It only took 4 people to lift it. Well me and my brother in law took it out of my truck. But we're both big guys. I wish I would have done the euro bracing but the price was right on this tank. You're going to need some help lifting your take. I think yours is going to be heavier then mine.

Well I started to think of what fish i wanted today.

Here's what I'm thinking

Midas Blenny
Regal Angel
Naso Tang
Hippo Tang
Chocolate(Yellow Mimic) Tang
Blue Flasher Wrasse
Clown Fairy Wrasse
Labouti Wrasse
Lineatus Wrasse
Yellow Coris Wrasse

Then what I'm bringing from my Mom's tank in California

Des. Sailfin Tang
Pair of True Percs
Yellow Tang (maybe)

Looking great! Can't wait to see it filled with goodies and wrasses (holy cow).

Our water from the tap is only 350 right now, but we have a different/better water company than JR area.

I forgot to add a pair of Lyretail Anthias from my mom's tank. So a total of 16 fish. Not to bad for a 300. :D

you can take these black saddlebacks with ya too.. these guys are @*#holes to everyone else... :D

I told you to get rid of them. They will start to rearrange your tank the way they want.

My issue is to see how much fundage I have when I go to buy my fish and corals at the end of January.

Well after looking at how much rock I have, I'm going to need some more. I have quite a bit a real estate to cover still.

It seems like you have enough rock to me, but then I am in the open look.
