The 630 Build

FWIW, protect that tank if you can. A buddy of mine had his tank in an under-construction house and one of the carpenters dropped a framing hammer into the tank and cracked the bottom. Ouch!

Maybe up bubble wrap, foam board and shrink wrap it. To prevent damage and scratchs.

Is the piece behind it gonna be put up should consider cement board over regular dry wall and a gfci outlet with cover.

That's exactly what I did while they were still framing. I had to take that down so they could drywall against the tank. Carpenters will be next so im kinda limited to how I can pad it. Lots of GFCI outlets on 2 separate brakers. What do you mean by the piece behind it? The portion above the tank will be all woodwork with hidden access panels.

Hopefully the worst is behind us. but the tank is covered by the builders insurance.

Got bored this week so I plumbed my overflow. I plumbed it exactly how I envisioned what I wanted, but I'm having second thoughts about the skimmer feed. My idea was to drain into one horizontal 3" pipe. The skimmer and refugium would be feed by tee off this pipe before it dropped down into the sump. My concern is will the flow to the skimmer be consistent and even. I need 600-800gph to the skimmer. A trusted expert told me to just run the skimmer off of its own overflow. But I like the simplicity of one large horizontal pipe feeding sump and skimmer. Should I stick with my vision, or should i sale the tank and go back shining shoes at the airport or federal capitol building?

Sorry, I forgot the pics.

The only problem I can see by feeding the skimmer from a drain is eventual clogging the skimmer with debris. And that's worse case scenario.

Nice tank, very similar to what I plan to build in our next home. Anxious to see how it comes together and evolves over time.

I gravity feed my skimmer just make sure you have valves on all The drain to control the flow on the skimmer

Congratulations on home and tank. Both look awesome. Do u have a fish wish list? Something i regret not doin.

Thank you all! Im really interested in the less common tangs. Such as Horseshoe, Eyestripe Surgeonfish, Vlamingii Tang and Black Spot tang. Schools of anthias are my second favorite.

Looks great. Will you be able to view the tank inside of the fish room from the sides?

Thanks Drae. The back is blacked out but the sides are viewable. My aquascaping will entail stacking rock in the back 2 corners and having them slope down. So a lot of the sides will be blocked by rock. At least that's the plan. My inspiration is Stuart Bertram's tank in England.

Sweet. I'm sure you will be able to tackle a nice aquascape in that monster. Stuart's tank was epic.
