I've had two baby clowns in an acclimation box in my DT for about 5 weeks (they're maybe 1.25" now). Today I went to my LFS and bought the smallest RBTA they had. It was pretty firmly attached down in the rock so they just cut the rock around it (love those guys) and I brought it home rock and all. I'm a little twitterpated with cuteness right now.

and that's a LONG time in acclimation box. I usually keep them in for a week.

i'm sure they'll start living in it soon! The breeder (Ivan from SCR) was the one who suggested getting them used to each other now.

m0nkie, it's for their own protection... they are very small and the DT is 65g. They're still small enough to fit through the overflow teeth too easily for comfort. For scale, that plastic canvas is covering 1/2" holes in the box sides. The nem can't be more than 2.5" across.

Quick question, how long should I wait before feeding the nem the first time? It probably wasn't fed much in the store, and it's looking great now, fully inflated (since it wasn't detached and came home in its rock, the trauma was minimized). Now? A day? A few days? This is my first BTA!

BTAs are walkers. They will walk for a few days till they find a spot to their liking. I would give it 4-5 days at least to find a spot and acclimate.

Okay, I'll wait... It can walk, but it doesn't really have anywhere to go and that's the only rock in the box (the box is about 8x3x6 inches).

is the box at the top of the tank? cause if so, that means your anemone is at the very top of the tank with no where to go. be careful if you have strong lighting. they may need time to adjust

It is at the top of the tank, but my Kessils max at 55%. It was under pretty strong LEDs at the shop; the light is probably not nearly as strong. I did ask about light acclimation before I took it home and they didn't think it would be an issue (it was Jesse at SPS in La Canada if you've been there). Signs of stress I should look for? It looks insanely happy right now at 40% (lights are winding down).

imo I don't see any reason to put the bta there. It puts the bta at more risk. I would just leave the piece on the rockwork. Bta like to plant their foot in between rock crevices

you have the kessil 360s right? which is same as mine. at near top, I have par around 300-400

signs of stress can be expelling zoo, gaping mouth, inflation and deflation. pretty easy to spot

It should be fine trust me I have my the same way with no problems and I have 400watts metal H.
Just let the clowns get familiar with and they should host it

I have few baby clowns on my elos200gal and they are doing just fine!!
Course they are hosting a anemone

Nice job! Great looking pair of clowns and a really nice rbta. If you feed the nem too much it won't stay open and bubbled up as much. I was feeding mine way too much and have now gone to once a week feedings. My clowns stay on the opposite side of my tank from my nem. Trying to figure out how to get the clowns to move into a new neighborhood.

Have you tried feeding away from their spot and near the anemone?
