The BEST Vacation EVER!!!

WOW! Just stunning. I hope to get there someday.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, definitely worth the 13 hours in a plane and another 1 1/2 hours in a boat.

Ahhh I love pictures like this!! Moreeeeee

I'll try to get some more up soon :)

Great Pics :) That looks like the place to go. I'm gonna have to figure out how to make that trip happen one of these days.

Definitely should be on your bucket list.

Thanks!

According to this picture, we are using the wrong spectrum of light!?

And this one here says too much!?

Guess it shows that corals adapt to different spectrums and intensities.

My envy meter just went off the charts! Please post more pics!

Hahaha... thanks. More pics to come.

WOW. And people wonder why we want to grow corals in our living rooms? The beauty of nature......

Seriously! Trips like this definitely inspire us to achieve more with our tanks.

beautiful man!

Thanks!

wowzers... nice

Haha... thanks.

I love seeing pics like those. I've seen a couple reefs (carib & cold water pacific) but I've never seen indo-pacific reefs in person so these are a treat, thx for sharing. The tanks some people maintain may be much more colorful but they'll never rival the sheer majesty of the real deal imo. :)

Oh, you'll see some color soon. I think the pictures taken far away don't capture all of the colors. But I have some close-ups that will make your eyes hurt. :D

Nice tank.

Thanks.

Very nice! Keep the pics coming

Thanks... will do.

:thumbsup:Amazing. Thanks for sharing these. Please post more. Must have been nice having a bungalow in the papaya tree forest!

Thanks! Yeah, it was like living out a dream waking up to the pristine waters lapping up against the shores. Then eating breakfast and going out on the surrounding reef for a morning dive/snorkel. Then eating lunch, and going out for another trip. Then sometimes just going out for another one right off of the island.

Thank you for sharing your pics with us. I can only dream of taking my family on a trip like that, but you know what they say "sometimes dreams do come true" thanks again, I really enjoyed the photos and details of your stay overseas.

Thanks! Hopefully someday you will!

Time for a Napoleon Dynamite quote... "lucky"

Hahaha... yeah, I'm definitely fortunate.

Don't stop now, what a dream trip!

The pics will keep coming :)

WOW, I am going to call my Dad over and show him these. When you have a little back story like you gave it adds context to the pictures that google searches do not yield.

You are very blessed my friend. Speaking of, how about you become my friend and i'll bring my pro rig (camera) and shoot you in real style :) just gotta comp my room and air, lol.

As far as light spectrum, we are using what yields the best growth considering we dont have a ball of hydrogen & helium that 997,000 earths fit into. WE ARE TRYING! LOL. More please... :)

Hahaha... thanks. I was going to suggest that if anyone wants to go, I can go and show them the sights if they cover MY room and air :D.

Beautiful! Looks like an awesome vacation for sure!

Thanks!

Here's some pics for the "fish people" out there! :D

There were tons of fish, although NOT tons of photos of fish that came out great since they are moving targets.

Here are some that turned out okay...

There were tons of little clownfish and different anemones there...

So, as some of you might know, Fiji is known as one of the premiere spots for soft corals... well it did NOT disappoint!

Here's a nice sized Yellow Leather...

And then there's the rainbow of colors that surrounded me every dive...

I was just amazed with the beauty of these corals... since it's nearly impossible to keep these in my tank, I figured I might as well take a ton of pictures to remember them with!

Now one thing I always LOVE seeing in the ocean is sharks... no joke, I love sharks. And this trip did NOT disappoint.

I probably saw at least one every snorkel/dive trip, but more often than not, there were multiple shark sightings (some close, some not so close). One of the biggest rushes of adrenaline I had during the trip was about midway through our trip, I asked the head dive master what kind of sharks (other than the standard white-tip reef, black-tip reef, gray reef) he had seen in these waters, and he mentioned that on occasion they will see some hammerheads, but that they rarely make it into the reef.

Well what did we see almost an hour after he said that? Yep... a pair of "smaller" hammerheads cruising around the reef (and when I say small, they were still bigger than me, just not full-grown- still probably the biggest and beefiest sharks I've seen to-date).

The unfortunate thing is that for some reason they were pretty difficult to get a good picture of. But here are a few other pictures that turned out okay...
