which model do I need for a 240 tank? will nac 7 work?

I would think that is the smallest skimmer you would want to go with. If you are set on Bubble Magus then a BM 180 or even the BM NAC66 will probably be better suited. The BM180 runs about $350 and the NAC66 runs like $260.

That is my thoughts and 2 cents.

I picked up a gently used NAC6. Had issues with a broken impeller and pump that Chris at Nuocean took care of. I have it running in 8 inches of water, set at just over "2". It's bubbling up to where the collection cup gasket is and it's skimming well. I tried running the water level lower (7 inches) but it didn't seem to have the right amount of foaming action.

Who is selling a NAC66 for $195??? That is well below MAP pricing and shouldn't be advertised for anything less than $260.

well ..... damn i see the nac66 going for 195 on a website . i just dont know if it will be good.
be careful of what you think your seeing for $195...
that site is an overseas site. the $195 does not include a mesh wheel impeller, costs about $100 to ship to the States AND I would presume has no USA warranty or customer service. :(

If people can hold off for about another 45 days or so, there will be a very good supplier that has everything for Bubble Magus here in the states and all warranty will be dealt with here. Just waiting on the shipment from China right now.

EDIT - I just want to make it clear that I have no ties with Bubble Magus or any supplier. I am not trying to push business or anything like that. I don't want the Mods getting the wrong idea. I simply work at a LFS that sells every type of skimmer and these really caught my eye. I just got my own personal NAC6 in and love it already! It is currently sitting in a sump by itself curing some rock. In one night it pulled skimmate out. It was a pain to begin with but that was my fault and not the skimmers. DON'T put the skimmer in 13" of water. LOL

Well just wanted to update my skimmer.

It has been running for 36 hours now in a sump that is curing some old dead rock and some new live rock that needs to be cured. My LFS brought in a bunch of slab so I picked it up for ultra cheap. So far I am totally stoked with my purchase! It has pulled some stuff out and it was stinky. It was wet skimmate but I am not surprised. I figure the skimmer will need at least three or four days to break in plus there isn't a ton to pull out right now.

I have the skimmer sitting in 8.5" of water and the dial is set at like 3 almost 3.5. I originally had the skimmer sitting in 13" of water while I made the stand and it is not meant to run at that height at all! I couldn't dial it in to save me but didn't really matter to me, I was making the stand.

I only have 1 issue so far and it is me being very, very picky. I wish the pump was actually a little smaller or the body was a little taller. It just seems to me that a little taller body would give the bubble some more time to accumulate.

Overall I am very satisfied and highly recommend these skimmers to anyone thinking about one.

No one has tried the NAC 3 yet?

I should have one to play with in February or early March. So far the Bubble Magus I have seen and dealt with have all been good. Can't see a reason why the NAC3 would be any different.

Well I noticed it didn't have a bubble plate in the bottom. I will have one in roughly two weeks with a modified impeller, depending on when the impeller comes in, and was just looking for reviews on it. I tried googling it but couldn't come up with anything. I guess they're somewhat new?
