its from the pump, vibration. skimmer has the 4 cone shaped rubber footing and I made sure the skimmer is not touching the sump. I initially hear the air sucking sound on the silencer, but that disappeared after a day.

When I was cleaning the pump, I took out the impeller and a white washer fell out. I don't know if it came from the inner or outer side of the impeller shaft so I placed it on the outside for now. do you know if this is the right placement?

thanks.

You say you have the BM100 right? Is it needle, pin or mesh wheel? If its the white washer and you put it on the out side, check to make sure you didn't double up the washers. I'm not positive but the 100's should have one at each end-anyone else please chime in! You most likely have a balance issue. If the magnet is either slightly too far back or forward, even from a tiny washer, it will cause balancing issues.

its bm-100 v2, so its whatever comes with it. its the same impeller I see in pictures in nuocean website.

yes, I think it did double up on the outer side. I'll take it out and try it again.

The outer side already has the white washer glued to it like in this picture

Joining the NAC6 club. It was a decision between the NAC6, the ATB 840 v1.5 and the Octo 110. Price is not much of a factor as performance and I want 0 issues with micro-bubbles. I am looking at putting it in a small sump under a Red Sea Max 130D (34 gallon). What attracted me was the price and small foot print. I am going to put the skimmer in about 9-10" of water based on my reading in this thread. Any suggestions on a return pump?

Tunze silence 040-awsome! Wow, ATB 840? A tie IMO with BK in terms of build quality and true performers along with great CS. That being said, you will be just as happy with the junk you'll be pulling with the BM-trust me!

Right! It's sitting back too far creating the wobble. wobble=noise!

Good luck!

ok, I took it apart and I definitely had the washer doubled up at the outer side.
after I moved the other one inside, it was still noisy. turns out the rubber thing that goes between the impeller shaft and volute was not seated properly. I found the best way to set it correctly is to assemble the impeller, shaft, washers and the two rubber ends first, then connect the volute, then drop the whole thing into the motor. its noise level now is about the same as the hum from my eheim pump.

thanks.

I just went on the Nuocean site there seems to be less skimmers then before, have they just quite making some models and moved on to others, Is Nuocean the only company that is selling them also? Thanks in advance

There are a few companies selling them. TB Aquatics, NuOcean, Marine Solutions, even my LFS here sells them. Only a few of the models have made it here to the US. They probably have 30 or so variations.

Thanks I am looking for one for my 33 gallon tank in sump model And my friend just bought a 75 gallon tank so either a external or internal should be fine. Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

For you either the NAC3 or even NAC5. For your friend the NAC6 for sure.

Hi,

here you can look on my new toy. It's a cone skimmer - Bubble Magus NAC-7.
It's my second BM skimmer. The first one it was BM 105.
Skimmer looks great, perfectl quality, design and details.

I'll be use this skimmer for 380l SPS reef tank.

How long does the mesh on the mesh wheel last on the nac6 How often do you have to replace it.
Is this a set and forget it skimmer or do do you constantly have to keep adjusting it. People say the vertex skimmer is adj. and leave it alone is the nac6 the same way.

Doesnt really look like a cone skimmer from the pictures.

I've seen these and they are slightly different than WM, KZ, ATB, BK etc. They have a much more subtle cone transition than most. I'm not sure how effective that would be compared to the NAC6.

I know Rob at Marine Solutions has been running his original mesh wheel for over 8 months now. I guess it could all depend though.

I haven't touched my skimmer in over 2 weeks. It is a set and forget skimmer for sure. The only reason I had to adjust it two weeks ago was because I tried to get drier skimmate then I already was. That didn't work out so I set it back to where it was and haven't touched a thing since.

Not sure how long the mesh will stay together. Mine has been running a few weeks now and no problems. I've read of others having problems with the wheel coming apart on them but for me, so far so good. They should be coming out with a NW at some point I would think, but for now it is a set and forget skimmer as long as the water level in the chamber doesn't fluctuate.

I'm trying to get hold of the bubble box Michael has. I contacted the site he posted a link to, and they got back to me asking for the link where he ordered it from-HUH?

Just ordered a bm15o pro...was trying to decide vs nac6 ...but the 150 wins for me because of the aquabee pump and no flimsy mesh wheel..I am not a fan of mesh wheels to begin with.. I'll post pics when it arrives...
