:wavehand:

I just ordered my BM NAC6! $155 shipped from Nuocean..

I recently took a Hiatus from Reefing, but after 5-6 Months I need my fix once again!

I'm going with the Marineland 60 Gallon Reef Ready Cube 24x24x24. Don't have a whole lot of free space under the tank and the NAC6 should fit perfectly in my 20 Gallon DIY sump I'm planning..

Thanks to everyone on here for sharing their experiences with the BM Skimmers. From what I've seen they can't be beat for the Money...

That is pretty much the same setup I'm thinking of putting a BM nac6 under. I'm just going to add a 20g fuge to go with it...

Jpatrician: looks like you are right about the pinwheeel...but look at the difference in price for the atman pump VS the aquabee....

The pic shows a needle wheel and the desciption says pinwheel-I wonder which one you would actually get with the atman. Pin or needle still sounds good though.

Well I went for it and ordered an nac7 last nite. Then read about more broken meshwheels today. Bummer. Hope they goof and send mine with an extra pin wheel too. LOL . We'll see how it goes I guess.

Awesome little skimmer for the money. Marine Solutions has a free shipping special going right now too.....

i checked out the link, it seems to be the same as the NAC7 cone skimmer. Nuocean is selling it for 220 with free shipping and marine solutions has it for 250 with free shipping. Both have the atman pump.

Everything I hear from experienced reefers tell me ratings for skimmers are bs and for the most part are very high estimates... are BM skimmers rated closer to what they can actually handle?

Based on the air numbers I have on my NAC6 (440lph), the concentration of skim I have with my light stocking levels was unexpected. I have it running on a 54 gallon system and the minimum recommended aquarium size is 90 gal. I have used high end skimmers rated at lower volumes and have had dissapointing results. For the price point of these skimmers and the quality of the materials used, IMO these are the best bang for your buck. The Vertex skimmers are the only competition in this price range and they use resun pumps which along with the BM Atman pumps, don't have the best reputation.

Ok. I've had a slight change of plans with my tank set up and will probably have about the same tank volume as you.

How is the noise level? Is the output of the skimmer below the water level? The tank is in the living room and my sump will be in an open stand so I need it to be quiet.

Now what do i do? I was planning on picking up a Vertex 170 Cone, now i see this BM180-CS CONE. Not really liking my swc 160 extreme. Nice skimmer, just a pain to adjust. Never wants to settle in one position.

Much quieter than my ATB. All you here is a very slight hum from the pump (very slight!). The output is definately below water level. About an inch and a half above the bottom plate.

Jury still out for me on the BM cones because the transition is very minimal to the cup. I would wait for some solid reviews and numbers.

I was wondering if anyone had thought of modifying an NAC 6 by moving the pump out of the skimmer..... Would this be difficult?..... Or even turning it into a recirculation pump..... That would turn the NAC6 into a beast

looking at Bubble-Magus BM-NAC6A and comes with a mesh impeller? where does this go on the unit? dont understand why its a freebie.
