The Bubble-Magus Club

Prices are set by Bubble magus, they were being sold at unrealistic market prices before due to huge price wars lowering the prices still further as dealers fought off Chinese Ebay sellers, great deal for you guys while it lasted I guess, rubbish for the company to stay in business and no good for product reputation.

BM had to do something to ensure their excellent name became main stream and was not seen as some cheap chinese ebay flogged skimmer, (we all know their quality is way above that) so they have changed their whole marketing approach, backed by us massively. They now have proper NA product support, correct supply chain channels and a network able to support the product as it should be.

The BM is STILL one of the cheapest skimmers with the best build quality that offers genuine german made high end pumps ;)

Price for a NAC6 in HK, $80.
Price for a NAC6 in US, $199.

For those who are ridiculed by the new MAP prices and are visiting China/HK, you can buy those skimmers from Fish Street in HK for 1/3 the price. Just buy a 220V-110V transformers for $5, and buy a 110V version meshwheel for $5 and you're all set.

Personally I found Reef Octopus 6 of better value if you're looking into the NAC6. Better neck, better body and comes with a needlewheel.

Hmm so the Meshwheel changes from 110V to 220V! I guess that's why my broken meshweel can't be replaced with the spare one. Looks like I got a bigger diameter one but inside where the shaft goes is smaller.

Those of you who has the spare wheel make sure is not the same as mine. It will NOT fit your Atman 110V pump so better go buy a new one that works cause these things likes to break. It happened to me and a friend

If the NAC6 is really $200 now, then there are much better skimmers available. I am glad I got mine when it was cheaper!

I would get the SWC cone series long before I would get a Bubble Magus at that price range. I would also look into Reef Octopus.

AQD Ottawa,

If Bubble Magus is serious with those prices, they better start coming with better pumps and needlewheels instead of the meshwheels. No way I would EVER pay $200 for my NAC6. It is amazing for the price I paid but for $200, I would have been an upset customer.

Just got an email from chris, they are very much still in business however they will be selling at MAP prices. I bought my NAC6 at $155 and it will cost $199 once they are back in stock.

That sucks for all the people getting on board with this brand!

Figures - people / companies with money have to move in when they see an awesome deal and screw it up for all the end users...

We are also going to be negotiating with BM to bring the price of the lower end ones down to about $150-$160

Prices will settle in two weeks, until then lets not all speculate and create some nasty negative posts over guess work

Yes new needle wheels and new Atman pumps, this is why the units have been out of stock for some time ;)

So for those of with the crappy meshwheel, how do we get the needlewheel? Will it even fit the "old" Atmann pumps?

What did they change with the new stuff? Will the new pumps work on the "older" stuff or is it a whole new skimmer?

You really need to. Everyone knows the state of the economy and everyone knows you can buy from China for dirt cheap. You're pricing yourself back into a market where - like rtparty said - you can get better skimmers for the same (or relatively same) price range. Pricing was / is the most attractive point of these skimmers. A "regular guy" on a "regular budget" can afford one and be happy. Don't get me wrong - I have and really like my NAC6, but if the price were relatively the same as an Octopus, I would have gotten one of those instead.

NAC-6 will be $159 as of June 1st, you are all quoting hearsay prices and getting yourselves all wound up over nothing.

The official distribution launch is June 1st and a lot will go on between now and then, including price tweaks as we report back to BM what is best and acceptable.

That is a good deal.

Although when one of the big distributors is saying they will be $199, that is not hearsay. That is pretty reliable info.

I am not bashing BM products. My NAC6 has been awesome and I love it. I simply stated that there is no way I would have paid $200 for it. The $150 price range is where this skimmer belongs. It is the BEST $150 skimmer out there.

Make sure they change the bubble plates though. They are useless IMO.

sk them again in one week after BM are back from Interzoo then they will have the same info as we have.

I talk to BM daily due to the massive tie up we have with them in terms of support and product marketing so we do tend to get the info a lot faster ;)

I got this info last night, well this morning really when i woke ;)

AQD - can I buy a new skimmer body for a NAC6A? Mine has a slight crack in it. It doesn't leak or affect performance, but I am anal about my equipment. No need for a skimmer cup, pump, bubble plate, silencer, or wedge pipe. LMK. I tried contacting BM direct, but no response.

Anyone modify the Nac 6 with a Bubble Blaster pump? Any thoughts on whether it would work?

Have you tried to fit it inside the skimmer body? Does the bubble blaster has 1" inlet?
If you have both the pump and skimmer why not just try it to know it fits.

Maybe you will need to re design the bubble diffuser to accept the pump from the side and externally or don't even use any. guess no one has done that modification. I was thinking to do it also but I have a NAC7 and can't afford to have the pump out of the body due to space in my sump.

ADQ Ottawa,

Any info?
