The Farm

I really like that you're farming these corals, and I hope to see aussie grown frags available in the USA eventually.

I do have a question though, why isn't Australia doing mariculture? It's successful in Bali and other places. It makes me sad to see chunks of acro coming in that are clearly broken off of a larger colony. I wish they would come in as mini colonies encrusted to a base in the way that the bali acros do.

Mariculture is illegal on the great barrier reef, we have tried to have this looked at but the marine park authority will not budge.

There is a mariculture facility offshore in western australia but what they do with their stock i have no idea.

As for the shortcake i supose its a bit like ricordia out here people are paying crazy prices for 1 single ric.

hmmmm question I know theres probably a lot of aquatic buisnesses over in Australia that ship all over the world. but is there a lot of hobbyist over there? what im trying to get at is there LFS over there that don't deal with internet and just deal with locals.

we have quite a few lfs's, at least three major ones in each city, then other smaller ones as well.

Thanks for sharing your setup, looks fantastic.

So let's cut to the chase ....

We need to get these corals out of Australia, before Biggles can buy them, and up here to the states. :D

Seriously though, good luck with your venture!

Well... you never know your luck in a big city

Can i pay you in cheetos?

If i can get a work visa to live in australia for a year, frag and care for corals all day, go out diving sometimes... then YES ill take cheetos!

(then ill get a couple vending machines out side the biggest stoner hangouts and get rid of the excess to pay for other food :spin2:)

Have any of your frags made it to the uk?

I have seen those bases once here and have two frags, one is a purple spathulata which is without doubt my best acro, insane colour and fast growing also a sort of mint green with light brown polyp quite stubby acro.
I see those two in your pics :wavehand: and wonder if they were from yourself.

We are using nsw and our filtration is extensive..

No that is not at monash uni.

Its possible those frags are from us, we do supply to another supplier who ships to the UK

What would you like to know

What the extensive part of it is?
How many fish do you keep in it and what's the total water volume?
About how many pounds of live rock do you have in there and what do you keep it in?
What media do you use in the calcium reactor and how do you like the reactor?
What skimmer or skimmers are you using?
Do you have to dose anything other than cal, mag, and alk to keep things running smoothly?
How do you maintain cal, alk and mag?
What is your process of collecting and storing the NSW and how often are you changing it/how much per change?
Do you use anything to feed the corals?
Assuming its all natural sunlight?
Do you keep a tank at home also?

Sorry if anything has been answered I just skimmed. Thanks for posting your operation, very cool and glad to see people doing this.
