I was luckly enough to get on the VIP list before it opened (the company I work for does business with public aquariums), so I was able to walk around with very few people around me. It was a great experience. The reef tank is by far the nicest I've seen in a public aquarium. I highly recommend a visit.

Here's a CNN news report about it. It was neat to read they used "Instant Ocean" to make thier water. Oh yea, they used tap water also, from what I read...no RO...

My daughter lives in Atlanta and has gone a number of times already. She says that even pictures don't do it justice, although I bet she hasn't seen yours yet. An absolutely awesome collection of pictures. I can't wait for airline tickets to go down a little so that I can go visit. I will be first in line when they open the day I get there!!!!!

Dumb question, but how do they keep the glass clean in the shark tank? I suppose they employ some brave divers?

The whale sharks are siphon/filter feeders. They aren't a threat. The video they had of the whale sharks eating was quite impressive. As for the hammerheads, they're well fed, I'm sure. Additionally, I've been to other aquariums with sharks and divers. They just keep a spotter on hand, and play terrotorial tactics, just like in the wild. At the other aquarium, the spotter had a "T" made out of PVC. When the shark got sort of close, he'd hold out the "T" to make the shark aware of his "personal space."
