The Georgia Aquarium (VERY Photo Intense)

Made a trip to Atlanta and the aquarium this weekend. Was going to drop in on Saltwater U to check out the vendors but they wanted to charge me $75 just to walk around and look. So I decided to just visit the aquarium. And to say the least it was much more fun than Saltwater U would have ever been. Anyways thought I would share some of my pics from the aquarium. I highly recomend it to anyone that is interested in marine environments.

But please do the rest of us a favor and leave your screaming newborn babies at home with the baby sitter!!!!!!!

Huge Calm!!! Pic doesn't do it justice.

Wow! What a great thread. Definitley thread of the year. Your time and effort are tremendous on this JWEDEHASE and it is truly appreciated by those of us with the waterbug. Just can't say thanks enough and, of course, a trip to Atlanta with the family is a must this year.

I have been thier before. I loved it all. I escpecially liked the asian small clawed otters the tropical diver and the whale sharks.

Keep in mind if you go on the weekend to purchase your tickets in advance. When it first openned they allowed a max of 8000, they now have reduced it in half to 4000 for the day. If you go early in the morning (8:00 is openning) you can get around real easy. By noon you have to wait to get into various areas. They have also now extended their hours. In the first 4 months they have had 1 million paid visitors. The backstage tour is also available.

yeah, We went at 8:00am and it was great! Walked right in the gate and pretty much had the place to ourselves until 9:30. By 10:00 It was ridiculously crowded. Screaming babies everywhere!! Do yourself a favor and go early.

Fabulous pictures and descriptions of them.
I just walked by my 125 and felt embarassed;)
Thanks so much for this thread and hope that you will post more pictures soon.
They may not seem great to you but every one that you have posted so far is gorgeous so would love to see more.
I just asked hubby how far I am from there.
I just HAVE to go see this place.
Thanks again for taking the time to do this thread.

All the great comments, thanks so much. I'll look through the images and see what's left worth posting. However, all that's left is the stuff that didn't make the cut, so you're warned! :)

By popular demand, the rejects... :)

I was never able to get a good shot of the sea dragons. In this exhibit were both leafy sea dragons, and weedy sea dragons:

It's an ink blot test, what do you see? I see a fish playing in the foam!

That last one was pretty easy..

It is a leafy sea-dragon (on the left) eating live brine-shrimps, while jealous (and quite upset one could add) jelyfish atacks from the right..

I took my family over spring break, mid march, and it was packed. I thought the place was amazing and you just can't imagine how awe-inspiring it is to see the whale sharks cruise overhead. When they hit the 45' mark, whoa nelly! Cant recommend it enough we spent about 4 hours there.

on the Rorschact test, imagine that the black areas are water and the foam is land mass. It is a satellite photo of how the earth looked before the continents divided. Note Florida on the left.

Wow, a few responses due.

JmLee: The chupakabra gives me the creeps! BTW, do you draw comics? :)

i know this is a little late, but why do you ask?

I was there last month & it's truely a great place.

I was disappointed that the main tank no longer housed the school of rays. I was looking forward to seeing those. I wonder what happened?

For true SPS addicts the reef tank is basically a reef fish tank but spectacular nonethless. It has some of the most beautiful anthias I have ever seen.
