And you're going to quarantine all these new fish properly, right? No more bouillabaisse?

Dave.M

well sort of Dave. The second smaller qt tank was "non negotiable, next thing I'll be wanting to keep a baby whale in the garage" so I've had a glass box made to fit in my sump and they are all in their with a bit of rock. Not great , but better than nothing. Lol

I've got a question on qt. Say I've got these fish in qt then in 4 weeks time I buy another fish. Do I put it in with the other at fish or will I then have to do it all again?

You should definitely NOT mix quarantine batches. Each group needs its full 6-8 weeks of uninterrupted quarantine.

You should control your urge to purchase. Otherwise you're just flushing a lot of money down the drain and needlessly killing a lot of beautiful creatures.

Well all done and I'm happy with the result. I've got loads of room now. Cheers Dave I'll hold off on more fish then

Read through your entire thread. It's been very interesting and your photography skills have improved! One thing I used for bryopsis was peroxide. I mixed some in with baking soda and applied it directly on the bryopsis with the flow off. Seemed to work for spot killing one people have dosed it as well. I would research it thoroughly as it could kill off beneficial creatures as well of overdosed.

Hi nick, thanks for the info I'll have a good read of that. I have got to admit I am a little worried about adding peroxide to the tank, dont know why I feel this way , im probably just worried I would mess it up in a major way, but what the hell . I've tried nutmeg ! Lol

Oh and a small correction on one of the new fish. It's a lizard blenny , not a lizard fish. Or at least I hope it is.

Well that was a disaster my in sump quarantine tank has split an edge. Just had to catch all the fish and put them in the tank. Not to worried though I got them from my normal lfs who qt's for a month before sale so hopefully I should be ok. Qt off for repair !

Picture update . Sorry for some of the pics, lost the setting on my camera and completely forgot how to use it again so some pics are a little.. Shall we say... Brooding .
So this is my rescape. Not a look I would normally go for but its more functional than totally asthetic. The one end is the same (this is the end with the rod through) then I've gone for a more central block linked to the other end by a mini canyon. Fish can swim all the way around and the Rock is more central to my lights and lower down. Reason for this is the last scape I did went more to the back of the tank and left a lot of swimming space out front but . 1 when I placed corals they were to far back for the light and 2 the fish did a lot of swimming back and forth (not very interesting) . So far the fish seam better. I've got tons of space for corals as I can use all sides and the top of the rocks , so although I find it slightly ugly hopefully it will suit everything better.

That's my happy mistake. A tasseled filefish. She's pretty big now, but a real character 1 eye is always on you. arrow head crabs are a definite no no, but so far everything else is ok. Small fish , anemone crabs, emerald crabs, blood shrimp and cleaner shrimp. I've read they can get to 10 inches , she's about 3 to 4 at the minute and has seamed to have slowed down on growth. I'm hoping that's it !

Hey nick , hope your still reading I've done some research on that baking soda and peroxide. Hopefully you can see that cleaner water and the mother of all sea hares has cleaned a lot up, but I still have a few stubborn spots that I would like to blitz. The thing I can't find is what concentration to use , do I just put it all together and squirt it on the area? Just wondering what you did. Any help greatly appreciated.

Can't believe I forgot to ask this question. When I was moving my rock I lifted a piece and this creature shot out and swam off . I didn't get a picture and i couldn't find it again. It looked like a long black worm of some discription but it moved very fast , it didn't have legs and swam like a snake I would say it was about a foot long. I have googled black worm like a ribbon and the closest thing I can find surprisingly is something called a ribbon worm. I've never seen anything like it before, and I'm familiar with a bobbit worm so at first thought it might be one of these , but definitely not. Does this sound about right for a ribbon worm? Again it moved really fast (and I nearly had a heart attack when this thing shot out)
