Beautiful system u have something that u can pass down to your children
Thank you JasonD., I owe it all to Jeff, he does build some beautiful stuff, and he premarks the water level and its dead on in my system, I have a small amount of cheato in fuge now, and added all my fish from the 61 gal over to the 190 gal, I'll wait to move my corals til next month, along with my clam

Will I have any issues running a 30" LR with a SP4 pump in 12-13" of water?

SP4 might be too much pump, if you flow too much water through a skimmer it will cut back on the contact time. D2mini ( orignator of this thread) uses a Mag 12 on his 30" and claims very good results

I have a SP4 on my 36" and feel it is a well matched for the skimmer

running the skimmer in deeper water will increase the back pressure you can adjust the gate valve to compensate. I have mine in 9" of water with the gate valve submerged

I thought I saw several people running the sp4 on the 30" model on here....?

SP4 is a great fit for the 30" body, seems like 12-13" is a bit higher than most so you may need to run the gate valve more open.

been soaking all night and day in my office in a fresh vinegar bath.

running the 30inch svs3 and mazzei ventura with the fluval sp4
this should be enough for my 150g tank with 50 gallon sump. I hope. lol

I have the smaller cup because my cabinet is 31inch high inside. Its all good since I'll be draining it with my external poop container.

Also I have the sp4 running on it's side. I had to buy a 1 inch 90 degree neck. The mazzei was too long. Heads up for those who ordered the mazzei and don't have enough head space to build a stand for the skimmer.

I believe dennis updated to the 18. Also, jeff updated on his website as well. He now recommends the mag18 on 30in.

Reporting back after installing my skimmer in my 150g. If no one knew I already owned a 24in sv3 for my 55g at the office. Powered by a sicce 5.0. Works great btw!

But I been running the povdc2 by coralvue last two year in my home tank. It skimmed great but pump died on me two weeks plus ago. Got irritated when I found replacement cost of pump. Went back to Jeff. Got the 30in with Mazzei. Threw in a fluval sp4. glad I went with this combo. Will upload pictures in a bit. Can't really hear it but that's because I own a set of mp40w lol. Lots of bubbles guys. Lots and lots of glorious bubbles and knowing if the pump fail I can replace it instantly and less than 170 bucks.

Installed around 10pm. Took 15-20 minutes to adjust.

Taken at 630am. 8 hours later and it's already skimming. The big bubbles went away so I guess the break in period is over. this pump/skimmer/mazzei combo is nice. Don't hesitate on that combo

Nice Gator.. !!
Installed my skimmer yesterday as well. I needed to redo some of the plumbing due to where my skimmer was set up. There is a cabinet brace taking up some head space so I slid the sump over as well.
I am running the Jeff recomended Mag18. I'll be watching the tank Temp and will switch to something else if the Mag18 raises my temp, which I expect it will.. I have plans for the Mag if it doesn't workout..

Nice setup guys. Was wondering have any of you had to replace the o ring on the cup? Mine finally cracked after ten years and they don't have one at my hardware store. Should I just order from Jeff?

It looks like the far right (return) section is lower than the previous sections to me, as it should be.

Looks like you're using a Trigger Ruby. I notice your far right section's water level is above the filter area to the left. I'm curious why you set it at that level?

It is probrably like that because I threw some floss in the area where the sponge is. I wanted to catch all the floaters that may be working there way through the system. After making the changes, cleaning my return pump and such, approx 4hrs., a lot of crap came out of the returns..

After all this... Thats the way it has always been. Return section lower than the others..:spin1:
