Those two are beautiful together!

Here is mine, now 6 years old.

Very nice speicmens you guys have there. I can't wait to get mine in my DT

There's a Fijian Moorish Idol [Expert Only] coming up on Live Aquaria's Divers' Den today at 6. You would have to be on site right at 6 and ready to purchase immediately or it'll be gone. I have gotten 3 from them over the last 5 years. My last one going on 3 months. First one for over a year and 2nd one (a female I think that came from the main LA website not through DD where they make sure they are eating well and have QT'd before shipping. Just wanted to post in case anyone was looking for a good opportunity.

Contrary to belief, la does not quarantine anything. They drop ship from quality marine. Dd does, but live aquaria are the same quality of fish you get from a lfs who uses quality marine (most do)

Difference is, la, being part of dr fosters and smith, is big enough to gauranteed fish, and take the hit for the loss. Sorta like the Walmart effect on small communities.

Once enough lfs shops have closed up, hope live aquaria or dr fosters can get you a pump or plumbing when you need it in a pinch.

No, you're right, LA does NOT qt, but Divers Den does and is where this fish was listed. Sorry if my post was confusing. Have no idea about where LA gets their fish but everything I've gotten from them had arrived well packaged and in great condition plus it's hard to go wrong with that 14 day guarantee, especially when you don't have an LFS near you that carries saltwater. Also have had no issues claiming a refund when a fish refused to eat from LA. My first MI came from that section that does not qt and he ate everything I offered from the get-go.

It's fro quality marine most of the
Time. They drop ship
Right from that distributor. Sucks cuz they never see or interact (feed, observe)them. More or less brokers for them.

My MI is almost ready for my DT. How do you suggest I introduce him/her to the tank. I worry because I have a purple tang and a PBT in there right now. I believe the MI is larger than both of them. I do have a acclimation box that 12"x8"x8" but I worry that it may be too small for the MI and get more stressed. What are your thoughts?

Your MI looks good and healthy. Where do you get it from?I am looking for one for over 3 months now. Anyone know where I can find one nice MI in LA county?

I'm happy to say that the transition to the DT went very well. My tangs took to him with open arms.

Hopefully he doesn't have an appetite for corals

Took mine 3 months before it discovered zoas. Made quick work of them after that.

I love how long his banner is.

I've only got a few wild zoas that came on rock, and while nice, I don't mind if they go away. I'm adding a majestic next week, so that may be inevitable :)

Mostly acropora, a few euphylia, 3 clams. Hoping I feed them enough to keep them busy :)

Awesome to hear Mike!

In my experience, they are more prone to pick at LPS and zoos. The only SPS my MI picked at were newly introduced ones that were sliming a little bit.

As for the banner, don't worry if one day you see that it is gone or shorter, since, unless it's gone due to a fish picking at it, it should grow back pretty quick.

Congrats again!

Thanks Chad. All LPS could be in danger (I have a scoly, a few favias, hammer coral)? what about anemones?

I know mine would eat zoas, back when I kept corals. It took 3 months to discover them, and I had all types of other corals at the time that it did not touch. It has been in a fish only for the longest time, so other than zoas, I don't know what else it would eat.

Thanks for the insight Ken

I haven't known of any to go after anemones, but honestly, if you keep him fed well with a variety of foods (I point this out because I know of MI's that are well fed and still pick at corals because my guess is their nutritional needs are not being 100% met), then picking should be minimal with little to no irreparable damage.

Keep us updated!

Chad
