The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

I drilled three holes on the side of my 92 corner for a beananimal style overflow. I set the aquarium on the side I wanted to drill (setting it on a frame to provide some space under the glass) and drilled from the inside out.

Hello

Edited: Lets not advertise other forums. Thanks, -Dino, RC MOD Its been more than 34 years I have aquariums. Of those 34 years, 23 or 24 years I've been keeping marine/reef aquariums. I translated many articles and wrote 2 based on my experience and those were were published in USA:spin1:.

The photos below from my triangular system are outdated ... I am remodeling it ...

Very beautiful Blueregaltang. I like the corner for some aspects and making it look like a little nook in a reef is the main one and you made it work!

Sorry but this is not the appropriate place for this. Try our classified or your local club forum.

Thanks,

I have a 54 corner and wanted to go led . Anyone with leds ? I'm thinking 36 to start and still use my 4 t5's then adding another 36.

im sorry i should have been more specific ! Im looking to go the DIY route to make the change a little more affordable! Im thinking a 7"x 16" heat sink with 36 leds. The kit comes with 60 degree optics. Im looking to hang about 5-6 inches above the water . Does that sound sufficient ?

I don't know about the 60 degree optics though but the rest sounds good. I couldn't do the DIY electrical thing....so I went with the next best thing.

Hey guys, long time since I've dropped in and looked around! Michael, still very happy to see that you are posting replies and such on this awesome thread that you started. I'm hoping that everyone on here is enjoying their corner tank as much as I did when mine was up and running.

I've made yet another move, and currently have no tank set up. I have hopes of setting my 54 up again, but at the present time, I have alot going on with work and school and kids. Just not enough free time to set up a tank at the moment. I have a 250watt DIY hailed fixture and ordered an Ice Cap 660 ballast and 4 24" t5s with endcaps about a year ago, but never ended up putting a fixture together.
Possibly when I decide on moving, or staying in my apt, I will start another new venture in reefing. That's what I love about this hobby; you can be so invested in keeping a system running, then if you are forced to take a break for a while, its like a brand new start when you set up again. However, when you set up your system again, you have already learned all of the pitfalls and mistakes of reef keeping, and you can have a very healthy and well planned out tank right from the start.

Anyways, sorry to ramble, but I just thought I'd check in. Again, I hope everyone is well and keeping the corner life going. I'll try to stop by more often in the future. Cheers!!

Hey corner-ites,

Been away from this site for quite a while, busy with work and wife's job change. Just trying to keep up maintenance on my tank has been overwhelming.

Have had an outbreak of majano anemones which I'd ignored long enough to make them a problem (guessing maybe 60-70). With my aquascaping being in towers, I'm pretty much unable to see (and reach) the back of my rockwork. I added a Klein's butterfly last week and it immediately targeted my elegance coral and took to nipping my frogspawn. Yesterday, my LFS had an aiptasia eating filefish show up so I put him in the tank as well. Hopefully, he'll get to gnawing on my majanos soon.

I also lost my naso tang recently, so my dichtyota algae has started to spread. I put another naso in yesterday as well, so hopefully the natural predation will start soon.

Glad to see this thread keeps on keeping on. Hoping everybody's corner is kicking butt!

gawf4fun- I recently went throught with what you are going through with tulip anemones (tough little bastards to kill). I ended up getting a racoon butterfly which within 4 days cleared my 54 of over 100-200 anemones. Afterwards he did develop a taste for many of my sps and lps. I removed him and gave him to someone with a tank more suited. He did a good job and was worth the $30 I payed for him. And he did a good job of ridding me of the ''hidden" or "hard to get at" anemones.
Also, I just did see at the local reef club meeting this past week, a apitasia/majano zapper demonstration. I personally tried it out on some majanos in the lfs frag tank and the majanos just disintigrated within seconds of contact. The lfs is renting out the zapper at $20 a day. Well worth it in my opinion. I would look into it as it would save you some possible grief in the future. I wish I had run across it 6 months ago before they were out of control.
