The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

S_kelley, very nice tank you have there! How do you keep your back glasses so clean? I think another challenge for a corner tank is hard to keep the back glass clean especially when most tanks stack their rocks very close to the back and the two back glasses are against the walls leaving very little room to keep them clean.

I wanted to make a durso 1.25" standpipe for my 54 gal corner tank. Its a 9 year old AGA. Does anyone know what size the existing overflow pipe is? I am thinking 1". Anyone have any luck with the durso? I am currently using the stock overflow with strainer and float. Getting tiered of the gurgle.

Since the Megaflow kit is the same for both 54g and 92g, I think the drain for both should be 1" and return 3/4". I agree with the noise problem with the stock Megaflow kit. Am I right if you go with the Durso system, you will be using both the drain and return bulkheads for drain and find other way for return? I would like to hear from others who don't use the stock overflow kit too.

I thought it only occupies the drain and the return stays as is. There is another system that uses both but the name escapes me. Thanks for verifying the pipe size.

also, do you know if its slip or threaded on the inside of the bulkhead. Want to make sure I buy all of the right fittings. Needs to be a quick swap, the tank is running.

Alright I have been looking at this thread for a while, I finished cycling my 92 corner about a month ago, figured I'd post a few pics of the set-up

Here is the basement sump

Wow, love the basement sump setup and your aquascape. leaves lots of room to arrange frags and have them grow. My big mistake was not planning for the corals to grow and crowding the tank with too many rocks. It's something I will be correcting next time I rearrange the rocks in my tank, by drilling 1/2 inch holes in the rocks for frag plugs to be set.

I like the scape alot too, and leaving room for growth and swimming space in a tank was something that I overlooked when I set my corner up. I have just a 5gal now, but I left the scape open, and didn't stack the rocks up too high, just so I could place some choice LPS on the top layer.

Anyways, just wanted to say good job on the whole setup! Can't wait to see it get filled:D

hey guys!!! i don't have a corner tank just a rectangle........but i like the look of the corner tanks but i had one question how big do they make them? it seems like i have seen 92 but do they get bigger? I'm just curious is all
thank you

I think I saw on here somewhere that someone had a 180 gal. When I was looking, there were companies that will make larger than 92 gal corner tanks, but you're gonna pay for it!

Why is mine setup for a double durso drain? What is the advantage vs. single drain and return in overflow?

Less noise and less risk of a flood are the advantages of a durso drain. Single drain is noisy because of the gurgling from mixing of air and water. Depending on the volume of the flow, the drain can get in and out of full siphon. If the drain is clogged, you will have a flood.

Durso uses two drains, one is the primary and the other is a backup drain. By using a ball or gate valve on the primary drain, you can eliminate air in the drain thus less to no noise. There is no valve on the backup drain.

Its easy! I dont! LOL, It will be coverd with coraline soon enough. I upgraded from a standard 75 to this 92 corner and am loving it.
