The Reef Central Corner Club Thread

Bernie, what's that yellow coral? It really stands out and I could use a splash of yellow.

Its not a coral, its a yellow sponge. Sponges are really underrated in this hobby as they can add so much color. I havent seen that color so I jumped on it, but its really an Idol snack.

I agree. My tank is in the midst of a change.

Same here... mine was quite poor & in the middle of a serious revamping, on the way up.

New to the hobby, Tank is only about 8 weeks old....

reefscape15: Very nice tank, I like what you are doing with the aquascaping. Is that hair algae I see you battling?

Bernie21: Good call on removing the blue tang. Those guys really like big tanks. Tank looks great, thanks for sharing.

Misled: Lets see that tank!

MJNTWise: Welcome to the culture! There will be a lot of challenges with this hobby, and some of those will be presented by the tank it self. This thread has been a great source of information for me, so review the hundreds of post. A couple of question: 1. Do I see that you don't have a overflow? 2. (More of a statement) One of the major challenges with these tanks are the flow. Pay close attention to the powerhead placement of everyones tanks.

windyridge: Great tank! I don't know quite how to ask this, so I am just going to be straight. Do you feed those poor guys!?!?!?!

Love that everyone is keeping up the posting. I have a question, is the "New to the Hobby" section the best place for this thread?

I feed them too much!! Why do you think they are hungry? I still have the same 7 chromis for almost a year now. They eat each other readily if they are hungry :-)

YEa, he was really becoming a pain! I had it since it was tiny & it got be a lil over 8". I like the Idol better, my fave fish. I removed rock for aesthetic purposes & for more room for the Idol to be happy! Thanks for the compliment.

Windyridge- Nice tank, I really like your corals & love your coral placements.

I took my tank down a few years ago. I did have a battle with hair algae a few times, but got it pretty much under control. I had a hard time keeping any algae eating fish because I had a wartskin angler that would eat anything smaller than about 5"! I've got a 20H set up now. It's been cycling for about 6 weeks now and I just finished building the sump yesterday. Still need to get the overflow and return pump.

Ok, you asked.

The kenya, xenia, and toadstool have takin over. The clows hosting the toadstool caused that problem. The other two, were expected, but had to prove that to the wife. There's quite a few new zoa colonies in the sand and scattered throughout to repopulate. There's also a rbta for the clowns.

Nice Jesse!!! Glad to see it all stocked up! It looks great. I remember when u set it up and it sat for a while, but it really came together nicely

looks good, your tank has come along way since this thread was originally started. I love thee green mushrooms on the right.

Could someone let me know what a 54g aqueon corner tank measures from the back corner to the front peak of the bow front. Trying to see if one will fit in my place. Thanks.
