The Skimmer

Ted, again I ask, "Do you plan on skimming the canal behind your house?" LOL

With that, you will be able to handle a HUGE bio load in your tank. Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks John, What kind of help are you referring to? You don't mean that you want to hook up to the skimmer too,do you? J/K. Ted

LOL Ted. Your new skimmer is bigger than my display! The collection cup is larger than most Nano's, too.

Steve, I am anxious to see it in its finished condition.

I think I'll need to get a Big Green Egg,and fire it up to celebrate. Party Time:beer: :clown: :bounce2:  :bounce1: :bounce1: :celeb1: :celeb2: :celeb3:

Steve said he has to glue the riser tube to the cup,and test it ,and then it will be done. It's too cold to do that today. Ted

You Need A 18 Wheeler To Get That To His House And A Crane To Put It In Place Cant Wait To See It Working

ted is this your skimmer? I thought you were going with an air driven skimmer with stones. this looks like a recirculating venturi skimmer. am I missing something or did you change your mind? is that the water in on the bottom? if so shouldn't it be on the top to give a counter current effect and more contact time or are you worried about too much turbulence? also what pumps are those recirculating?

Rob, I changed my mind, about the air driven design. That valve on the bottom, is to drain the skimmer for cleaning. The supply will be at the top. The pumps are Sedra 9,000s,and I might need to go to 4 pumps. I will see how it goes with 3 pumps first. BTW ,what do you think of my new skimmer? Ted

Rob,The Reaction Chamber Is 13" in diaX48" Tall. I don't have an OA yet. You would have to talk to Steve,as far as making any to sell.

Mary, Check out the price of 12" cast acrylic tube. It is over $100. a ft. There is more labor involved with the hex, but the material is a lot less. My friend will give you a good price on a 12" X48" piece of cast acrylic tube,if you want to build a large skimmer. Ted
