love the updated pics!!!

Sorry, this is a newbie question. Just curious on how you setup your carbon, i.e. where is it located in your sump, how often do you change out, etc?

Thanks!

No problem, I have a fluval canister filter that is full of carbon. It pulls water from my overflow box and it drains water into the sump. I change the carbon out if I remember every 3-4 weeks or sooner.

I absolutely LOVE your tank! The colors on your corals are perfect. What kind of bulbs do you use? The colors I see in your tank make me want to switch bulbs to what ever you are using. Very nice work!
I love that OBT the most and that birds nest colony is phenomenal!

can i ask you,,what is starfire tank?

can i ask you,,what is starfire tank?

all i know is glass and acrylic tank,,,so what is starfire tank?
any different? are they the best ?? are they too expensive?? why are you choosing it? please let me know,,i am looking a bigtank too,,but not sure what to buy??how much is your tank alone cost?? thank for reply

starfire is brand name for low iron glass
low iron glass is less green and distorts color less.

Here is a picture I found on another site to show the difference between regular and low iron.
The one on the left is regular glass, the one on the right is starphire. Both have been painted with white paint on the BACK of the glass and you can see how the glass distorts the true color.

as far as a price on the tank I don't remember exactly what it cost but it was much less than what I thought it was going to be. you can pm "thedude" his name is John and he will get you set in the right direction for a tank he is one of the owners of Kingfish aquariums.

ohhh ok i see starfre is glass but its clear instead blue tinted,,,any one lighter than other or stronger ?? i know glass need brace around and middle top of the tank,,,do you both same thing,,need all braces??thanks alot,,,

Hey just finished reading all 20 pages, started reading this as I'm looking at getting a tank been looking in the range of 300-500gallons, first question would be if you had to redo any of it what would you do? Second I noticed you don't have any more pictures of the blue spot jawfish, how is he doing with the low sand bed? I had a lot of wrasses in my tanks now and plan on consolidating all my tank into the new large tank and would like to do a no/shallow sand bed tank but worry about them not being able to bury themselves at night. AWESOME TANK btw, LOVE that metorite coral.

Thanks,
I think the only thing I would do if I could redo anything is get a bigger tank lol and a larger fish room for more equipment storage.

The blue spot jawfish jumped after a few months of getting him he was doing fine and had himself a nice little hole dug.

good luck on your tank!
