Very nice!! Thast exactly how I would of done it.
I also love the way your sump came out. Another thumbs up! I noticed the little details on how the plumbing is setup just like one of the previous japanese sump builders that I havent seen around here. How big is that sump anyways? Glad to see an AE sump in action!

Great job MakoJ. I see you have been working hard!
From what I can see the tank was perfectly made. Kudos to A.G.E. for getting the product right the first time. I assume the acrylic-to-glass bonding is all very secure ?
The acylic to glass bond is VERY strong I was affraid of it when I first heard about it but man after testing it out I have no worries!
So you have four drain lines from the external overflow... what size are they ? How do you plan on feeding your AP902 ? That is the same skimmer I plan on ordering, it is supposed to work well with gravity feed if you can give it 750-800gph or so.
Drains are 1.5" I'm looking into that today so far I leaning towards an iwaki55 with a gate valve but I think I'm going to go ask on the Deltec forums what they suggest.
A few other questions ...
1. How much of the rear top edge was CNC machined away to create the overflow weir, i.e. 3/4" or 1/2" ? Is the toothed insert removeable ?
If I'm not mistaken I think the glass is waterjet cut ? but it is 1 1/2" from top and the acrylic teeth are bonded in
2. How wide and deep is the external overflow box ?
8" wide and 12 1/2" deep
3. Do you plan on using any backdrop in the tank to hide the external overflow box and plumbing, or is the expectation that your aquascape and SPS garden will conceal it ?
I'm going to use black acylic panels on the back and sides that will be removable
Please keep the pictures and progress reports coming... I see my own future in this thread

Thanks mako. I know which site your speaking of for the flex PVC. It's pretty darn cheap too compared to marinedepot and those other resellers.

Just for clarification the overflow was notched out using a high pressure water cutter.
LOL..I bought 3 super heavy duty 96gal trash cans from Lowes they worked out very well

I have two in my tank room and one of them popped the lift bar! They are great but I will have to replace them at some point. I really liked using them to move the rock when I bought the tank. I popped the rock in and filled half way with water and put them in the truck.
