It really is an outstanding valve, very easy to turn and fine tune. Not quite a gate, but prety good. I have a 2" one on the inlet of my Dart and a 1 1/2" on the out. I am adding a new Barr skimmer and ordered some plumbing and bulheads from Savco and decided to try one of their true union valves. They are very cheap, I think it was like $13 for a 1" compared to $22 for the Georg Fischer. I'll let you know.:mixed:

One more thing I forgot, the Georg Fischer comes with both threaded and slip connections. With the Savco you have to choose one or the other. I am actually going to contact them next week to see if the other connections are available seperately.

I have a few TUBV's from Savko and they are very nice... Turning the valve is as smooth as silk... I think the 2" was like $37.00 each...

A quick question for you smart plumbing ppl... I am looking for a needle valve to control my Ca rx effluent better. I looked on US plastics and they have a bunch and I don't know what one to get.... what I want is this..

a needle valve with push in/quick connect fittings on both ends... 1/4 by 1/4inch

Any help is appreciated.

I also have some of the Savko orange ones and they are great. No problems at all and as asnatlas says, its a smooth turner. I just wanted to color code mine a bit different.

I have used SAVKO for most of my plumbing needs and he has been great. Custom Aquatic has some stuff too but be very careful about getting flex PVC from them! They sent me something that looks like it but is NOT it.

In our area, believe it or not, Lowes has cheaper prices on sched. 80 unions than any of the online suppliers. In fact. most of them are priced the same as the sched. 40. I thought it was some kind of mistake, but it has been that way for almost a year.

That came from custom aquatic and I wish I had bought all of them that I used on my tank as those. they are very easy to turn and almost as good as a gate valve...almost

- other valves came from US Plastics.
- Hayward bulkhead from Ryan Herco
- return nozzels and closed loop nozzles from OceansMotions.com
- all flex pipe came from flexpvc.com
- rest of PVC from lowes the only thing I should have ordered was some sch 80 hard pipe in 1 1/2" so that I would have the white showing.

Well my light rack is almost done I made it out of 1/8" L shaped aluminum and riveted them together. Same dimensions of tank: 96" X 30".

I had to go buy another rivet gun and broke that one too right as I was finishing.....I guess I should have bought the heavy duty version.

i didn't know that you could even get PVC bottomed tanks. or that PVC sheeting or acrylic could be bonded to glass strong enough to hold that well....learn something new everyday.

can't wait to see that 601S up and running and the 902 kicking out some serious nog.

These new AE tank threads are killing me . You guys don't know how much I wish I would of known of this company before I had mine built. Love the PVC bottom and open top. Ext. over flow and overflow grid looks great. Everything looks fantastic, plumbing is great. I just plumbed a tank a little smaller and I can appreciate what you have done there. Great job, can't wait to see this stocked.

Well, the alarm clock went off here in Plugerville at 7am and our day started. Here are the pics of our lllooonnnggg day.

We had to break down and bag up fish and corals from our 75 and 150gallon tanks in San Antonio and bring it all to our new house in Pflugerville (about 90mins away).

I gave up around 3:30am and Brian 'finished' at 5am. We lost 3 fish (a six line, a pink margin, and a swissguard basslet). All the corals look good and we should have more pics coming tomorrow night...if he'll ever get the flippin' light rack done

2" PVC cutters can be purchased at Lowe's for $35. They wrok quite well.
