the swirler-stein

It's silent but hot (a function of the gearmotors, nothing to worry about). It's about as loud as a VCR playing a tape with the TV muted. You have to be within a few inches to hear anything at all.

Just curious but what powerheads work with this? Any or is weight an issue with the motor? I have a #4 in my tank that I could use if people thought it was not too heavy.
Also has anyone figured out how to hide it?
Thanks.

Nice, that shouldn't be a problem with this application though. I know what I just ordered a bunch of. :D

It may be a typo on their site, but you should probably call them and ask if that motor will work off a household outlet/receptacle. Notice they have it listed as 12VAC not 120VAC.

But the speed and size matches up to what a bunch of us used. They didn't list the torque so I'd have to guess by the wattage.

Ok, it's not a typo, I guess I'll have to find something else. They said it's designed for use in airplanes. I found a 9 rpm motor but I think that's a bit too much.

In the picture above, is teh + shape piece on the motor glues to the plastic am arm? I didn't glue my parts togehter and they squeak and eventually wiggle loose....

I glued mine with a dab of superglue. It's just a small drop though - the pieces can be easily broken apart if needed. If the downpipe is squeaking against the box, a drop or two of olive oil will fix the problem. A drop of olive oil every six months is the only maintenance I've ever done to my two units in about two and a half years.

Yup - just a dab though. I wouldn't even need pliers to pull everything apart.

I am getting ready to give mine an overhaul (moving to a new tank this weekend). I bought a pair of 3/4" ID sealed bearings from ebay for ~$8 after shipping. You can find them by searching for "bearings sealed 3/4" lawn mower". The olive oil trick will be a thing of the past.
