Surplus Center said they would be getting more in a few months. The e-bay link on the prior page is the cheapest place to get them right now. The store name is Martin Microwave Inc. The price seems to fluctuate from $13 to $26 depending on the seller's mood. I would think any of those 120v 3rpm motors would work though. They all look very similar.
 
anyone want to build me a couple? I have the motors I could send you...I coudl actually send the two built units and you could charge to fix them and get them running properly if you wanted.

I just can't seem to get them running properly. Either the cam arm binds up or they make creaking noises etc... super frustrated at the time I've wasted and still cant' get them to work :(

here is my ghetto attempt at a swirlerstein :D It works great!! I am going to replace the 1 RPM motor with a 2 Rpm motor to get more motion.

Would anyone who's made one of these awesome contraptions be kind enough to post a modern materials list, their possible locations, and an instructions list?

I've tried reading the thread and looked for the items, but I just want to make sure I get the right items, and the links in this thread are mainly dead.

Well I tried putting together a list of stuff with locations myself.. maybe if y'all could tell me whether these finds are good or no?

I just received the motors from the above link. DO NOT ORDER THEM!!! THEY ARE 2.5 rpH as in rotations per HOUR!!!

I thought they were broken, until I really started watching the shaft.

Now I have to find some that will work...will 4rpm be too much?

Yes, VERY slow! When I plugged it in, I thought it was broken. It sounded like it was on, but the shaft was not moving.

I just ordered two of the McMaster-Carr 3 RPM Synchronous motors....they were a bit spendy compared to the surpluscenter.com motors. Hopefully they will work out well.
 
The motors that I used are still available. I got them from EBAY from a vendor named supplystuf. He always has the motors, I got mine in 2008. You can go to his store and search for 5304440021, this is the Frigidaire part number. They are currently $14.75 and shipping is $3.55. In the current configuration my swirlers are in, they have been running over a year. The above pic used for a parts list are from my build before I added the bearing. I used a pvc bushing and it required to much maintenance. The bearing requires nothing and runs like a clock.

I am sorry for the late reply. The bearing is held down by the white acrylic clamp. The bearing is pushed against the corner and the two screws that go through the white acrylic are making contact with the bearing. This keeps it from moving side to side. The white kidney looking thing is the clamp, it is made from 1/8 inch acrylic, again the screws that hold it down are touching the O.D. of the bearing. That keeps the bearing from moving up. The tube that goes through the box and attaches to the pump is press fitted into the bearing and makes no contact with the box. This is how I did it anyway.

i just pulled apart my old junk microwave and pulled out the turntable motor, too bad its 24vac though........ but it is ac, is there a way to step down 110v ac to 24v ac cheaply?
