has anyone run this 6 bulb combo?

4 blue+
2 6000k ?

Wondering if the 6000k bring out the reds nicely without affecting the deep blue look from the blue +.

pix would be great too

Haven't done it but I am sure it will look fine.

I was looking for a direction to go for my new 90gal set up I was noticing alot of hype on the t5 set ups. I would be using a retrofit kit and was wondering the pros and cons of the t5 verse the hqi mh. and if so could you please recomind where to purchase a quality kit? thanks for your time.

Hey, no BUMP for Grim.. just wanted my question to not get derailed by the question after.. Thanks for the info.. seriously thanks, that BUMP was not intended towards you. Just to make sure my question didn't get jacked

I quess I'll jump into the fray :D .

What would you recommend for use with a 180 (6'x2'x2')? It will be a mixed tank but at some point I would like to have sps, clams, and maybe a nem. How many bulbs front to back would I need? I've heard, 6, 8, 10, and 12. Thanks. :)

Hi folks,

Thought I'd post this on the lighting forum for Grim and everyone to take a look at...

I have an 8 bulb Powermodule and it's time for new lamps. The fixture hangs about 5 1/4 inches above the water line. I'm looking to get the best colors out of my corals, but since many are small frags, would like some growth too. Any ideas on bulb config front-to-back to reach my goal? I really want those colors to shine! :)

The tank is 4x24x24 120g. Also, should I consider adjusting the height on the fixture? To high, to low???

Thanks!

Grim,

Would you recommend two UVL 454 or two UVL Super Actinic to supplement halides (10K and 14K)? (Or, one of each?) My priority is good coral growth rather than appearance.

Thanks!

Pros Less heat and less power used, more versatile as far as color

Cons No shimmer lines

I would use a 8 lamp Aqua Illumination retro from Reefgeek or a 8 lamp ATI Powermodule fixture, both using the 60" 80 watt lamps. You can't place high light critters in the last 6 inches or so at each end but you can put anything in the rest of the tank.

Try 5 ATI Blue Plus which have very high PAR, 1 GE 6500K Daylight and 2 UVL Actinic White which both also have a lot of PAR.

2 ATI Blue Plus. They will give you a nice blue pop and also a lot of PAR. If you gotta use the UVL lamps go with the 454, again nice look and more PAR than the Actinics.

Hi Grim, I am using a Current Nova Extreme fixture with 6*54w T5 bulbs over 90g mixed reef. I have some Q's for you
1. Is it enough light?
2. How often do I change T5 bulbs if I run them 6-8 hours a day? 3. Is my combo as below good for coral growth and appearance?

Front
ATI Blue+
UVL Actinic White (50/50)
ATI Blue+
GE 6500K Daylight
ATI Blue+
ATI Aquablue

Thank You very much.

Grim,

I have the 2 ATI Blue + and 2 ATI Aquablue coming in the mail today. I have 2 T5 banks in the front of my light, then 150w 14K Phoenix MH bulbs in the middle, and 2 more T5 banks in the rear of my light. What order should I place the bulbs from front to back?

Thanks,
Killa

Grim,

Solana (20x20x20)

Ati Sunpower/powermodule - should I get 4 or 6 bulb?

Also what bulbs should I get to keep sps in the upper/middle & lps in the lower half of the tank?

I want to make the colors pop but I don't want the thing to look like blue led moonlights all the time.

Thanks!

Cool Beans Grim, Thanks. :)

Hi Grim,
Setting up a 40 breeder, frag tank, predominately SPS and Zoanthids. We have 2 lighting options on used fixtures.
#1 6 bulb Tek5 local.
#2 4 bulb ATI Powermodule.

The ATI would only cost us about $80.00 more than the Tek5, but 2 less bulbs. Any opinions or an explanation as to why we should buy one over the other? Currently, I'm leaning towards the Tek5, because of the extra 2 bulbs.....BUT, is there something I'm not considering?
